My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Thank you so much for recommending "Settlers Crossing" as a place to stay in Fredericksburg, Texas. It is a "First Class Inn," as are the owners, David and Judy Bland. David and Judy are personal aquaintances of Hubby and I.
Anyone wishing to know more about Settlers Crossing can access them here

You're very welcome Miss Feather . . . I'm so happy to be back . . . since I can't walk and chew gum at the same time, no poetry for a month . . . :-( . . . Little Miss Hope has a short attention span and Sissy took up all of the attention that I have . . . LOL!!!

Ms. Bentfeather,
Well, the BBQ is done, the concert is over, and my brother and sister have gone back home. We had a great weekend. My daughter played the concert wonderfully, and I am very proud of her.
When I was a little boy, 3rd grade or so, when I was sick and had to stay home from school, I played Frankey Lane over and over and over...North to Alaska,I'm going north, the rush is on. I also wore out Fats Domino....On Blueberry Hill. I would sit on the sofa and rock (I come from a long line of rockers) and sit all day and play and sing those guys songs.
The reason I brought up Franky Lane and Fats Domino is because I missed your thread yesterday and saw where someone was talking about Frankie Lane. These days he would be called Freaky Lane I suppose.
Had some cows get on my neighbors property and had to go round them up and haul them home today. So I did and got luck and trapped a bunch of cattle I had not yet vaccinated and wormed. So that is what I did this afternoon. It was cool enough, so it was nice.
Hope you are feeling well and all of your afflictions and pains are quiet for now.
Oh, yea. I wanted to tell you about our flowers. I have about 300 amaryllis bulbs and this year they were spectacular. Our roses are also. We have a bottlebrush plant which has shown itself this year. (That species hales from Australia). The azalias were somewhat disappointing this year. I am also disappointed in our irises. They have come up well, but have not yet put up a spike. Our neighbors are very nice. Our daylilies are putting up scapes prodigiously. They get better every year. They like cow manure and I am full of it.
Talk to you soon.
Jeff

Have you stayed at Settlers Crossing? I thought I read that the owners have it up for sale.

Good evening, ms marlowe!
Oh how I love Van Morrison and especially this album, I have it. Our President and First Lady are very fond of Van, too.
Thank You so much.

Good evening, Texas SongWriter.
You certainly had a busy and joyful weekend. So glad daughter's concert went well.
I am the Frankie Lanie lover. Since I was a young lady.
Oh my, the flowers on your ranch song so lovely. And the cattle, wow your ranch must be huge!
I live in the city so my little flower garden is little, but I love it. Right now when I walk out back I am greeted by a large area of Johnny Jump Up. Little tiny pansies. Of course, when the lawn gets mowed down they will go.
I had a very quiet day watching old movies. Betty Davis, in the Three Little Foxes. Such acting. It was great.
Thanks for stopping in and reading the thread.
I am well.

Yes, I have stayed at Settlers Crossing and the owners did have it up for sale, but the last time Hubby talked to them they had taken it off the market. Would you like to buy it? They were only asking $3.2 mil. . . . LOL!!!

ms feather and her Mother.
To: HopeandGlory
My wife and I talked about trying to buy it, but it is a little pricy for us. We stayed at Settlers Inn, on or obout April 1, 1999. We go out there to see the wild flowers and hill. We love Fredricksburg. Perhaps Ms. Bentfeather will post a song I wrote about that trip called "That Sweet Bluebonnet Day" if you ask her. When we came home from the trip I asked the girls if they would like me to write a song about our trip and they said yes. So I did. I would post it, but I don' know how.
Anyway, we stayed at the largest of the houses out at Settlers Inn. My daughters, especially my oldest, was very involved in reading "Anne of Green Gables", and she felt like she was Anne when we were out there. They had a small herd of sheep on the property and lots of deer. We thoroughly enjoyed that trip. Your friends have a nice operation going on. I hope we will someday next spring, go there and stay a few days. It was very relaxing. Close, but seemed remote.

Hedgehogs
Snubby nose,
Grubby toes,
Spiny prickles
Full of tickles.
Snuffling round,
The leafy ground,
Hedgie urchin
Goes a-searchin'

Good morning, Lair! Vacation feels wonderful! Happy Monday to everyone!
The Unlucky Apple
by Paul Laurence Dunbar
'Twas the apple that in Eden
Caused our father's primal fall;
And the Trojan War, remember --
'Twas an apple caused it all.
So for weeks I've hesitated,
You can guess the reason why,
For I want to tell my darling
She's the apple of my eye.
To: Colonel_Flagg
What's a vacation? ;-)
ENJOY!!
