~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XIX~
March 24, 2005 | ~bentfeather ~ Poets of The Lair~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

FISH

I think that I shall always wish
A form so lovely as a fish.

A fish whose trembling fins are prest
Against the stream's sweet flowing crest;

A fish that looks at God all day,
And lifts fair dorsal fin to pray

A fish that may in spawning wear
Colors bright to meld the pair;

Upon whose watery lair has lain;
Both ice and snow and summer's rain.

Poems are made by folks who wish,
But only God can make a fish.

Flower God, God of the Spring
1890-Robert Louis Stevenson

Flower god, god of the spring, beautiful, bountiful,
Cold-dyed shield in the sky, lover of versicles,
Here I wander in April
Cold, grey-headed; and still to my
Heart, Spring comes with a bound, Spring the deliverer,
Spring, song-leader in woods, chorally resonant;
Spring, flower-planter in meadows,
Child-conductor in willowy
Fields deep dotted with bloom, daisies and crocuses:
Here that child from his heart drinks of eternity:
O child, happy are children!

Beautiful Dreamer
by Stephen Foster

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd a way!

Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng, --
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea
Mermaids are chaunting the wild lorelie;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn.

Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart, --
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

To: laurenmarlowe; All

In the Land of Glenn Gaul Way

When the knights and ladies did play
in the Glenn, by the mossy brook by day
and danced from dusk 'til twilight of day.

The Legend holds the secrets rare
of these two, the Enchanted Pair
and of the lives they lived out there
in the Glenn of Gaul Way.

By night they did impart to another world apart
from Glenn Gaul Way they strayed to the land
of enchanted fey.

In dusk of light and mist of brook
these two took another form of look
with wings of gossamer and gold
and flew out of the old Glenn so bold.

They carried with them on their wings
the Star Dust of the heavens old
and scattered it far and wide,
Star Babies in the sky they made.

As dawn approached the tiny two
and laid their tiny wings with dew
downward downward flew the two
back to the Glenn to become human again.
