~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XIX~
March 24, 2005 | ~bentfeather ~ Poets of The Lair~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Thank-you Note

I wanted small pierced earrings (gold).
You gave me slippers (gray).
My mother said that she would scold
Unless I wrote to say
How much I liked them.

Not much.

Good morning, Lair! Happy Monday!

Faint Heart
Harlan Colby Pearson

My lady fair
Her golden hair
Lets fall a-down her shoulder.
I'd steal a tress-
She's no redress-
Were I a little bolder.

From her sweet lip
A bee might sip
Sweeter than rose-leaf's savor.
A kiss I'd take-
No cry she'd make-
Were I a little bolder.

Her neat, trim waist
Just suits my taste;
Close in my arms I'd fold her,
And clasp her tight-
She'd feel no fright-
Were I a little bolder.

She's waiting now
'Till I find how
To ask of her a favor.
She'll be my wife-
I'd stake my life-
When I'm a little braver.

A very tender poem, one I have not seen.

Good morning Ms. Feather!

You have given me wings with which to fly
Now I breathe in deep and spread them wide
as we lift off from the silken petals
into the wind where the butterflies glide.

April Is the Cruelest Month

Sunrise burned in on her solitary
shadow and cast fire on her hair.

April faded to a flickering candle
before her desire to love wilted upon her lips.

Waiting was nothing for her
April is the cruelest month.
