Hey, the statistic speaks for itself... 1 in 4 of the females who are killed each year are killed by their husbands... A lot of people feel murder is better than going through a costly divorce...

I think Michael Shiavo may be one of them.

"If my wife (god forbid) were in this position, and I 'thought' she wouldn't want to live like this, but her family thought I was incorrect, I WOULD DEFER TO HER BLOOD FAMILY. The difference, a husband can divorce his wife, but parents are blood FOREVER."
A logical, well reasoned statement You need a new tagline.

Those are pretty weak statistics, as indicated by your refusal to post hard numbers.

The issue is property rights and limited government.

You cannot see the forest for the trees...

"Schiavo wants to marry the mother of his 2 kids in Catholic church. Can't do that if the current wife is alive and divorced."

In addition, he ordered that she be cremated, no autopsy. There are many unexplained broken bones and head injuries, including why her heart stopped in the first place. He is too eager, and has been for 7 years. It's about him, not what she wanted. She is not sick, she is not brain dead. There is no reason to kill her.

No, I couldn't turn it around. A criminal investigation started but was stopped all of the sudden; they closed the case before being investigated.

" Using that convoluted logic, every severely mentally handicapped person can be systematically put to death."

There you go again.

You conveniently left off only if they must be fed as part of life support.

I think that the people who believe Michael Schiavo should be allowed to starve his wife are libertarians, not conservatives. I would guess they're the same people who think abortion should be legal. They seem to think that the killing of the unborn - and Terri Schiavo - is a "private" matter, "in our bedrooms", and the government is intruding if it gets involved.PING!

>>Isn't that why Kervorkian is in jail? <<

I had not thought of this. Krevorkian could probably request a new trial if the Judicial that sentenced him does exactly what he did.

You conveniently forget that a pacemaker is more 'life support' than a feeding tube is.

It is unfortunately the ones who claim to be on Terri's side that cannot see where this will lead. When we give to Congress the right to decide who should live, we are, by extension, giving them the right to decide who should not live. I, for one, do not want to start down that road.

1000 per year? Then how many divorces are there on average in a given year?

My husband and I discussed this at length last night, for about the fourth time this week. We've both made it clear to each other and to our families that we'll haunt anyone who keeps us plugged into anything without hope of recovery.

And we both having living wills. There won't be an issue with us.
