He can deal with the legalities later, but he'd be a HERO, and damned near untouchable for any thing he wanted to run for later.
This whole mess sickens me, and it's happening less than 10 miles from me. I've been to some of the demonstrations, but I don't dare go back.
Time will come later...........FRegards
The entire world is watching this entire drama unfold right before their eyes and many are absolutely horrified and chilled beyond belief at what they see.
When a great nation such as ours starts to dehumanize individuals in the way that Terri is being dehumanized in an organized effort to rationalize the killing off of those members of our society who are sick, disabled, no longer productive, "have worthless lives or lives not worth living" or "wish to die".
It is a sad day a very dark day in history.
The World's Superpower and Champion of Human Rights around the globe is starving and dehydrating a disabled woman to death and underage children who bring her water are being handcuffed and arrested.
Does that sum it up? Did I miss anything?
If China decides to put a bullet in the brain of all their retarded school children tomorrow, what can we say or do?
Next time we want to whine because Libya or Egypt is on the United Nations human rights council we better learn to bite our lip.
There is your perspective from overseas.
FYI..............FRegards
I'm with you, Gonzo. Praying that Jeb does the right thing.
I doubt it.
Agree 100%.
I think Jeb's finished anyways. He's coming off as toothless and indecisive.
Yeah, right. From a prison cell. That's why they're called "legal-ities". Jeb would be "untouchable" all right, after he "clapped" a judge who has been upheld just about to the US Supreme Court, "in chains."
If he does anything, he will be slapped down from the courts.
He is trying to work through DCF, and that has been already blocked by the courts!
He is doing everything he can.
I don't agree with this, I think he has done about all that he can.
His political career is actually pretty minor compared to living with the guilt for the rest of his life.
Pray for him.
You're a lot of fun, but I think your screen name and tag line say it all.
Well, hi, gonzo -- thanks for your post. Yeah, I knew you were close, but I thought you were more north of there. Would you please say more about your experience there?
I was there Oct '03. It was good in that I did get to talk w/Schindlers and find out more about the situation through the years, and contribute to financial need that arose while I was there . . . but all the while, Terri was inside DYING . . . and what was I doing??? I'd driven over there from an Orlando high school competition. I was hurting for Terri as a mom hurts, and I was determined to take her something to drink -- then when I met Schindlers, it was clear they did not want anyone doing that. That evening I went up to a policeman and said what if I wanted to take something to Terri? and he said if I did that I would be arrested. I said the Schindlers didn't want that & neither did my family . . . I admire those who are there -- it can't be easy for them.
I'm extremely upset about the way this is turning out.
I think Florida should go 4 years with a Democrat in the Governors Mansion, they deserve it.
After his failure to address the high-profile deaths of several children in the State's care over the past few years, I wouldn't shed a tear if his career is already finished.
Yes indeed,Jeb is hooked up to the WUSS-A-METER, And the needle is very near the red on the Gage.
The problems are this:
Power of Attorney is all that is needed. The person who has that must be absolutely trustworthy because this is the type of thing that can happen.
The stupid law Congress crafted is apparently as worthless as they come. Another thread on Free Republic points out the wording used, and it is as vague as can be.
People have been in this situation for years and there hasn't been an outcry. I don't like what is happening either, but what needed to be done to stop this wasn't.
The husband's conflict of interest through having the Power of Attorney and living with a woman beyond that which makes for common law marriage should have been explored. Second, the law Congress crafted should have been more direct.
