Thought you might be interested in the perspective of this case from overseas where I live.

The entire world is watching this entire drama unfold right before their eyes and many are absolutely horrified and chilled beyond belief at what they see.

When a great nation such as ours starts to dehumanize individuals in the way that Terri is being dehumanized in an organized effort to rationalize the killing off of those members of our society who are sick, disabled, no longer productive, "have worthless lives or lives not worth living" or "wish to die".

It is a sad day a very dark day in history.

The World's Superpower and Champion of Human Rights around the globe is starving and dehydrating a disabled woman to death and underage children who bring her water are being handcuffed and arrested.

Does that sum it up? Did I miss anything?

If China decides to put a bullet in the brain of all their retarded school children tomorrow, what can we say or do?

Next time we want to whine because Libya or Egypt is on the United Nations human rights council we better learn to bite our lip.

There is your perspective from overseas.

I agree 100%. Strictly in a political sense, if Jeb doesn't do something he will be persona non grata in the future. He is the governor! It is better to go down swinging than to never step up to the plate.

From your blog: "Our nation's Supreme Court has ruled that executing mentally retarded convicts violates the Eighth Amendment's constitutional protection against "cruel and unusual punishment". If this violates the constitutional rights of convicts then simple logic would dictate that it also violates the constitutional rights of those who are not convicted of any crime. Terri Schiavo has been convicted of no crime whatsoever."

It was so good I decided to copy it again! ;-)

Except in Europe.

Thanks for the overseas perspective. I think you are quite right, this murder, if it happens, will be a PR blunder bigger than America's national debt.

There is your perspective from overseas.

Yes, I suspect the French, the ones that just last summer bumped off thousands of their senior citizens in nursing homes and home homes, while they were on their August vacations during a heat wave, are particularly horrified at what is happening in Florida. Quelle horreur!

This is a perspective from here in Missouri too! I am livid, disappointed and heartbroken over what is happening here.

I will NEVER think of my country in the same way again. I'm not as proud to be an American right now as I once was. This is a sad, sad time in the history of our country. I don't think we will EVER overcome this horrid act. Our integrity in the world is gone, if our government assists her husband in murdering her!!!!!!!!!!

Gonzo, I think you made a mistake.

You say,
If Terri dies when she could actually be kept alive, and Jeb Bush doesn't use the State Police or the Florida National Guard, or ANYTHING to prevent this travesty, he will be vilified by the democRATS if he ever seeks another office (like the Presidency).

Why would he be villified by Democrats.
I think you mean Republicans.

So are most Americans, I trust. It's all so bizarre to me. I see the leftist judges doing the same thing to our country that the terrorists are doing, namely, using our own Constitution to hurt us with. The terrorists take advantage of the freedoms our Constitution provides, and the judges have become tyrants by 'interpreting' the Constitution to conform to their destructive agenda.

I am sickened with this. I wish the politicians in the states would step away from the issue at hand and actually see what this situation is. This brain damaged woman is dying before us, because it is being allowed. If she isnt being cared for in the hospice, why is she still there?? Give her the dignity she deserves. Let the parents take her home, the state will rule they are unfit, and Adult Protective Services will take custody of her. May God continue to be with her.

What little moral authority we have regained since invading Iraq is now finally gone. It's over, turn out the lights.
