It appears that Terri Schiavo is going to be starved and dehydrated. I don't see how it going to be stopped short of a kidnapping to save her life.
If we are to believe sworn affidavits, Michael Schiavo denied his beloved wife rehab, speech, and occupational therapy. Terri actually was able to drink from a baby bottle and ate pudding and jello. He threatened to fire a nurse if she got nourishment from anything but the feeding tube?
Why just the feeding tube? Because he could have that pulled and starve her to death. He had no interest in seeing that she learn to eat again.
A nurse has said that Terri was able to say "mommy," "help me," "hi," and express when she was in pain.
Terri is also being denied communion.
Michael thinks it is over when he has managed to starve and dehydrate her to death? No, Michael, I don't think so.
There will be a wrongful death suit filed of perhaps $20 million. The evidence will come out about the denial of rehab. Her broken bones will be investigated. Ultimately, Michael, some of the truth is going to see the light of day. You are not going to get away with it. Not in this life. Not in the next.
Take a look at #51. Apparently you're in the minority opinion.
That's just not true.
She cannot speak or communicate.
I know there are lots of people on this board who live in, or think highly, of Florida.
Despite the State Tourism Commission's best efforts, however, Florida appears -- by all evidence in the past five years or so -- to be a mildewey, viper-infested snakepit of corruption, murder and just plain venal brainlessness, populated by opportunists, Nazis and homicidal simpletons.
And that's the bright side.
Why???
The guardian and heir of Terri is her husband, and that issue has been adjudicated at length. If he's allowed to kill her, his status as her guardian is not going to change. The only thing that will change his status is keeping her alive, and further discovery into his conduct which may provide grounds to remove him as guardian.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for legal actions against Michael Schiavo. Just don't get too excited by this one.
I see, so only your side is allowed to have conviction. Do you realize that's exactly the same word Michael Schiavo used to justify what he's doing. Chew on that. And to the moderator: it's a threat. There's no doubt about it and my mind will be clear that I warned FreeRepublic.
Another civil trial? Just one more will do it, huh?
Why do you suppose Florida prosecutors have been so lax to date in their pursuit of this self-evident criminal? For that matter, why do you think Florida prosecutors need to hang around outside a civil courtroom in order to "get the goods" on the guy?
Last night on Greta, one of Terri's friends was on the phone saying that every person (3?) who said Terri felt she didn't was to be kept alive was named Schiavo. Another friend said that Terri commented about Karen Quinlan, "Where there's life, there's hope." They were on the phone with Greta, but it was chilling. I guess he's a control type.
Are you a nurse? Have you taken care of people like Terri, who are brain damaged but aware, awake, and alive? I have.
Your idea of talking is clearly different from mine. Your idea of communication is VASTLY different from mine.
You are mistaken.
"Your cynical post proves that you really don't know much of anything about this case. It was NOT a nurse that heard Terri say that on Friday, it was an attorney."
The threads I read said it was a nurse. What's wrong with cynicism? Why not disbelieve this nurse/lawyer who also said Terri talked and such before the "murder attempt?" You know anyone else who said that?
"I am sick of you death mongers who act like know-it-alls and prove time and time again that you know nothing. All you know is what the news readers on CNN tell you."
Actually I'm not for ending feeding. The "death mongers" are the many who think Terri has some consciousness yet would approve of killing her if she signed a "living" will. Most, I think, haven't thought through the ramifications of their opinion.
Of course the lawyer heard it on Friday.
Geeeeez, JudithAnne.
She cannot communicate.
One other point, there is usually a "privilege" for actions taken pursuant to court proceeding and especially pursuant to a court's order. He will be immune for suit for his actions that are authorized by court.
No, I am NOT a nurse, but I am the wife of a doctor.
You're wrong.
Terri, sadly, cannot communicate.
It didn't sound like a threat to me.
It sounded like a conviction.
That's what the reports say, and the website on terrisfight.org. Suspicious. The stuff of murder mysteries....and blood feuds.
I respect you also, but, come on Hildy. This is no threat. I am merely suggesting the potential legal consequence if Terri dies. Certainly her parents will file a wrongful death suit. And, from my religious beliefs, I don't think his Maker is going to be happy with him.
I have family in Florida and California. They live in beautiful places and enjoy living there. Even they comment that the morals and judiciary in those states are going down the tubes. It's a wonderful place to be until you need legal help.
We refer to Florida and California as Sodom and Gomorrah.
You're lying. Near as I can tell, Barbara Weller isn't an attorney. Please, for the sake of this forum, don't lie. Makes all of us look bad.
