ARE YOU READY FOR A $20 MILLION WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT AGAINST MICHAEL SCHIAVO, Does 1-10
the news | 3-22-05 | dfu

Posted on 03/22/2005 8:35:01 AM PST by doug from upland

It appears that Terri Schiavo is going to be starved and dehydrated. I don't see how it going to be stopped short of a kidnapping to save her life.

If we are to believe sworn affidavits, Michael Schiavo denied his beloved wife rehab, speech, and occupational therapy. Terri actually was able to drink from a baby bottle and ate pudding and jello. He threatened to fire a nurse if she got nourishment from anything but the feeding tube?

Why just the feeding tube? Because he could have that pulled and starve her to death. He had no interest in seeing that she learn to eat again.

A nurse has said that Terri was able to say "mommy," "help me," "hi," and express when she was in pain.

Terri is also being denied communion.

Michael thinks it is over when he has managed to starve and dehydrate her to death? No, Michael, I don't think so.

There will be a wrongful death suit filed of perhaps $20 million. The evidence will come out about the denial of rehab. Her broken bones will be investigated. Ultimately, Michael, some of the truth is going to see the light of day. You are not going to get away with it. Not in this life. Not in the next.

I believe I have also heard conservatives say on TV that Terri has not received therapy (and KJL asks about that allegation below). Maybe she hasn't recently, but here are some more passages from the Guardian Ad Litem report:

"Theresa spent two and a half months as an inpatient at Humana Northside Hospital, eventually emerging from her coma state, but not recovering consciousness. On 12 May 1990, following extensive testing, therapy and observation, she was discharged to the College Park skilled care and rehabilitation facility. Forty-nine days later, she wastransferred again to Bayfront Hospital for additional, aggressive rehabilitation efforts. In September of 1990, she was brought home, but following only three weeks, she wasreturned to the College Park facility because the “family was overwhelmed by Terry’scare needs.”…

"The clinical records within the massive case file indicate that Theresa was not responsiveto neurological and swallowing tests. She received regular and intense physical, occupational and speech therapies…

"In late Autumn of 1990, following months of therapy and testing, formal diagnoses ofpersistent vegetative state with no evidence of improvement, Michael took Theresa toCalifornia, where she received an experimental thalamic stimulator implant in her brain. Michael remained in California caring for Theresa during a period of several months and returned to Florida with her in January of 1991. Theresa was transferred to the Mediplex Rehabilitation Center in Brandon, where she received 24 hour skilled care, physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapies.

"Despite aggressive therapies, physician and other clinical assessments consistently revealed no functional abilities, only reflexive, rather than cognitive movements, random eye opening, no communication system and little change cognitively or functionally. On 19 July 1991 Theresa was transferred to the Sable Palms skilled care facility. Periodic neurological exams, regular and aggressive physical, occupational and speech therapy continued through 1994.

If that's not the technical term for her, I am wrong and I apologize. She has been diagnosed as being in a Permanent Vegetative State. I've read where nobody has ever recovered from that state after this period of time. Again, If I'm wrong about that, show me. Is that better? And I haven't been ignoring you. It's hard to keep up. :)

If we are to decide that we need to do every possible therapy or treatment in order to keep someone alive if there is even a 1% chance of recovery, be prepared to start giving 75% of your income to taxes, because that's going to be a huge expense.

If done according to the law, which the impending actions appears to be, it'll be interesting to see the logic behind "wrongful"?

IF they are successful, say bye bye to capital punishment which would be grounds for wrongful death. No?

On Larry King Alive, this is what really p*sses me off.

SCHIAVO: Larry, she's not dying by starvation.

From what is she dying? Oh, I know ---- "lack of nutrition." Why do some people just have so much trouble telling the truth. Oh, it's not a baby in my womb. It is worthless tissue.

I certainly agree with that. The social changes that are going to happen to this nation and the world will be staggering as people live longer and have transplants. We cannot even contemplate that society and social order.

"There are probably hundreds of thousands of people who are disabled by brain damage, maybe tens of thousands with feeding tubes--do we starve them all?"

Is there a reasonable time to keep a tube in?

"What in the heck did you want him to do? Create precedent and overturn centuries of common law............?"

"Centuries of Common Law" prohibited cohabitation by a man and a woman if either one was already married -it was called bigamy..the children bastards and illegitimate.

duh!

The era of sociopathology is upon us without a law being passed; it is - pick your own rules to live by and to hell with society.

"She could not swallow then, nor could she pass the yearly swallow tests done on her in those first three critical years when she was having rigorous therapy."

If you keep shooting down rumors and mis-information what will people have to speculate about? LOL

Thir testimony can put him away.

I guess his scientology lawyer hasn't told him that? Felos has lived well the past years on Terri's malpractice money. He'll walk away rich and Mikey will go to the slammer, IF there is any justice left in this world at all.

I heard some doctor (or something) from UCI yesterday morning saying it's a painless death.

IF it's so painless...and IF she's PVS and can't feel a thing anyway...why the morphine?

"never mind that Terri can't join us"

Well now I don't know Blur. After all, congress did subpoena her to appear before them. Did they not?

Are you saying they goofed up big time?

Doug,

Just wait until stem cell research and harvesting extra body parts takes hold.

Wow, what are we going to do? Lotteries to live? Pick 5 and you get 5 extra years.

Solyent green and overpopulation. Yes, Terri is leading the march to this brave new world.

sorry - I was carried away. Back to work!

I have to say it again

Everything that the liberals always have done, that we have always stood against as conservatives, many of us have wholeheartedly embraced over this case:

Liberals have always let emotion rule the day, rather than clearly though out logic.

Check.

Liberals have always spewed baseless accusation to attack people who's positions they do not like.

Check.

Liberals shun real debate, in favor of a fear-mongering hysteria.

Check.

Liberals will reject the majority of scientific consesus, if they can find one or two scientists that will agree with their side. (i.e. global warming)

Check.

When a poll comes out that is not in their favor, liberals just say that the American people are stupid and just don't understand what's going on.

Check.

Liberals will believe any wild allegation without a shred of evidence, if it is about somebody they don't like. At the same time, they will believe any wild conspiracy theory by any person at all if that theory works to serve their interest.

Check.

Liberals purposely use a lot of really fiery rhetoric that *sounds* great but holds water like a seive when it's put to task by factual information.

Check.

Liberals go by the notion that ANY distortion of the truth, as long as the end result is what they want it to be.

Check.

Liberals, the moment they feel slighted, immediately demand that the Federal government come stomping in and start arresting people and setting things in place they way they think it should be, regardless of jurisdiction or constitutionality.

Check.

It's a shame to see people that I have always respected completely fall off the turnip truck.

Bones
