It appears that Terri Schiavo is going to be starved and dehydrated. I don't see how it going to be stopped short of a kidnapping to save her life.
If we are to believe sworn affidavits, Michael Schiavo denied his beloved wife rehab, speech, and occupational therapy. Terri actually was able to drink from a baby bottle and ate pudding and jello. He threatened to fire a nurse if she got nourishment from anything but the feeding tube?
Why just the feeding tube? Because he could have that pulled and starve her to death. He had no interest in seeing that she learn to eat again.
A nurse has said that Terri was able to say "mommy," "help me," "hi," and express when she was in pain.
Terri is also being denied communion.
Michael thinks it is over when he has managed to starve and dehydrate her to death? No, Michael, I don't think so.
There will be a wrongful death suit filed of perhaps $20 million. The evidence will come out about the denial of rehab. Her broken bones will be investigated. Ultimately, Michael, some of the truth is going to see the light of day. You are not going to get away with it. Not in this life. Not in the next.
Can you verify that you are devoid of any sense of humor?
Terri's tube was put in before she even left the first hospital -

She could not swallow then, nor could she pass the yearly swallow tests done on her in those first three critical years when she was having rigorous therapy.

"Doug, I love you, but you know your story has nothing to do with this case. And just out of curiousity, why didn't you have your Mother live with you and take care of her?"
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but aren't you the one that brought up Doug's mother?
I probably have more experience than you, Judith Anne, as far as assessment of communication skills. I spent formidable years attending speech pathology, learned to read lips because of a hearing problem, and add to that, I've been a radio broadcaster 18 years.
OR....When she sees a crime...she doesn't report it.
Isn't that Obstruction of Justice & aiding & abetting?
Basically, that's what she's admitting to.
Some of us approach this from our professional experiences. Some of us are guided by caring for our family members. The professionals have days off and vacations. Family members often find respite care too infrequently to recharge the caregiver stores. Failure to obtain needed respite is not healthy for the family members who care for their family members.
I have read differing opinions as to her state over the past 15 years. Seems she was doing better with some therapy until Michael stopped it.
See, your post is exactly the problem. You don't believe in the ideology behind it, and that's fine. But in this Country, what MS is doing is legal and God knows he's gone through every proper channel and then some. Because you find it morally reprehensible, doesn't mean you have a right to go in their and subvert the law. You know I find it morally reprensible to keep her alive in that condition. Call me any name you want, but that's what I believe. Why is what you believe more important than what I believe and more importantly, the law?
That's patently false. Prove it. Show me the evidence.
That's his business. Not mine, not yours or anyone elses.
Why did he stop therapy for her after receiving the malpractice settlement?
Not true at all. You need to do some research
Let your emotions swallow you up.
You are correct. I know....I take care of my bedridden mother in my home, as I did my Father before. Thank goodness I do have some help. I know what it's like. But now that I've divulged that information to you, it will be used against me...wait..and watch!
The law should always be followed.
There is no excuse for breaking the law.

Okay--I laughed!
But I admit I find it hard to laugh on these threads--it just isn't funny to me. There are probably hundreds of thousands of people who are disabled by brain damage, maybe tens of thousands with feeding tubes--do we starve them all? Or just Terri? If just Terri, why? If she has loving, willing family as caretakers, why?
"If you don't know even the basic facts, you really shouldn't be posting."
How dare YOU accuse me of not knowing the basic facts! I have read everyting I can get my hands on about this case. Having a brain-injured husband myself makes me a little more than just interested. Now, you have really gotten on my nerves and I think I am going to have to excuse myself for a while so I can go FEED my brain-injured husband.
No she wasn't!
I have read the court transcripts and that's not what they say.
