ARE YOU READY FOR A $20 MILLION WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT AGAINST MICHAEL SCHIAVO, Does 1-10
the news | 3-22-05 | dfu

Posted on 03/22/2005 8:35:01 AM PST by doug from upland

It appears that Terri Schiavo is going to be starved and dehydrated. I don't see how it going to be stopped short of a kidnapping to save her life.

If we are to believe sworn affidavits, Michael Schiavo denied his beloved wife rehab, speech, and occupational therapy. Terri actually was able to drink from a baby bottle and ate pudding and jello. He threatened to fire a nurse if she got nourishment from anything but the feeding tube?

Why just the feeding tube? Because he could have that pulled and starve her to death. He had no interest in seeing that she learn to eat again.

A nurse has said that Terri was able to say "mommy," "help me," "hi," and express when she was in pain.

Terri is also being denied communion.

Michael thinks it is over when he has managed to starve and dehydrate her to death? No, Michael, I don't think so.

There will be a wrongful death suit filed of perhaps $20 million. The evidence will come out about the denial of rehab. Her broken bones will be investigated. Ultimately, Michael, some of the truth is going to see the light of day. You are not going to get away with it. Not in this life. Not in the next.

There needs to be a correlating wrongful death lawsuit filed against Greer, and if that fails, a political lynching.

A question to anyone who sides with Mr. Schiavo:
Who is Mr. Schiavo more beholden to-
His invalid wife Terry Schiavo, or his fiancee Jodi Centonze, whom he lives with, and has fathered two children?

Mr. Schiavo has for all intents and purposes, remarried.
How can a man represent the best wishes of an ex-wife?

Schiavo's relationship to the other woman clearly constitutes bigamy, and is a breech of his marital vows.

Those who want Ms. Schiavo dead, are supporting Mr. Schiavo on the premise that the Schiavo's marriage is still valid. In reality their marriage is a fraud. He no longer represents her best interests, and quite possibly never did.

Again: How can a man represent the best wishes of his ex-wife?

And as I understand it, LOTS was not admitted.

Totally untrue.

I read the sidebar discussions, motions, etc.

Caring for both your mother and father is a great responsibility--and a great gift. I appreciate your efforts.

That was one of Terri's co-workers, they were planning to move in together, leave their husbands and get an apartment the very next day.

good idea,

but which judges would hear it?

the same boys club that refuses to hear any of the 'thrown out' or new testimony?

Would a jury ever even be empaneled? or would it be dismissed immediately by judges who don't want to be proven wrong?

It's so telling how so many are buying into rhetoric and not doing ANY backgroud research.

So...help dispell my "ignorance", was it before the settlement or after when MS decided that Terri's feeding tube needed to be taken out?

How long after Terri's "accident" was the settlement reached?

Just because you disagree, doesn't mean the other person is lying

Nothing to do with disagreeing or agreeing. Neither you, me nor onyx are in a position to state what onyx stated about either the nurse lying or about Terri Schiavo being able, or not being able, to form words.

Onyx is lying in saying something as truth or fact that he/she cannot know.

This is different than him/her saying "I don't believe the nurse" or "my opinion is Schiavo cannot form words".

Given onyx' frontal assault ("stop the lies") he/she does not deserve the benefit of the doubt or courtesy.

Here we go....Then why did Terri's parents testify differently at the Malpractice hearing? Are you saying they lied to the court?

It is NOT BIGAMY, if the spouse is NOT legally married to more than one person.

I can just imagine Michael Moore making a movie about this and using it against the Republicans.

As long as liberal judges are appointed to this case, Terri has no chance in hell to be saved from this awful fate that is worse than the guy who killed Jessica Lunford, but he is at least getting fed before he is going to be put to death! What a shame that doctors have to starve and deny this woman medical treatment and food and water as well.

Doug - I respect you very, very much. And I researched this for months before opening my mouth about it.

If you would like some information, I'll be glad to provide it.

I will only put here a few things and they are supported by court documents:

Michael became a respiratory therapist in order to better care for Terri.

Nurses testified in the malpractice trial that his care for her was so exemplary that Terri never even had a bed sore, which is highly unusual, and that he was extremely demanding of the hospital staff.

That he even tried experimental surgery for her which is why she has electrodes in her brain to try and stimulate brain activity.

That Terri's parents testified under oath that they were willing to see Terri have multiple amputations in the event she contracted diabetes, a fairly common occurrence for someone who is PVS, I think. And that they also testified under oath that even if they knew she wouldn't want to live this way, they would keep her alive. It was at that point that Michael said, enough.

That in the early 90's the Schindlers brought Terri home only to return her to rehab stating that they found it overwhelming to care for her. I have very little confidence that 15 years later and 15 years older they are in a position to better provide that care.

That Mr. Schindler testified under oath that he told Michael it was time for him to get on with his life. That the Schindlers, up until they objected to not getting any malpractice money, thought that Michael was a wonderful son in law and provided excellent care of Terri.

The Schindlers were permitted to get two doctors to bring to court to bolster their case that Terri is not PVS. One is listed under a quack doctor web site run by doctors. The other didn't know the difference between PVS and a coma.

Doctors who testified to Terri's injuries when she was admitted to the hospital say they were consistent with a fall (which she had when she went into cardiac arrest at home).

NO ONE, not the doctors, nurses or family members, ever saw strangulation marks on Terri's neck. The Schindlers didn't even mention that maybe Michael wasn't anything other than a good son in law for 12 years. 12 years! And it was after an argument about money.

Mr. Schindler testified in court that he thought he was entitled to some of the malpractice money and was angry he didn't get it.

There's more but that's a start.

This matter has haunted me for a long time and I am so conflicted about it that it's making me almost ill. But what I don't like to see is for Free Republic to become a dumping ground for every single conspiracy theory and lie that comes around the pike.

This matter has been the most heavily litigated case in the nation in terms of a medical right to life sort of case. The documentation is out there for people willing to look at it.

I say this in all sincerity to you...you're a great freeper. And I love Free Republic and nearly all of my freeper friends. But it's heart wrenching to see the name calling because some freepers have taken it upon themselves to see that the facts are discussed in an intelligent way vs. the garbage that's out there.

For example, Dr. Frist said, highly indignantly, that Terri didn't even have an MRI. He should know as a doctor that she CANNOT have an MRI. She has electrodes in her brain to stimulate brain activity as part of an experiment as a last resort. She is ineligible to have an MRI.

Now I think a doctor recommended those be removed and they haven't been, although I don't have proof of that. But it was irresponsible of Frist to make it seem like Terri hasn't had a gazillion tests. She has. We've had a family member who was brain dead and we had the stomach tube removed. This was on medical advice. Sometimes there's just no hope.

And I'm sorry for ranting.

Agreed, it is not bigamy. It is fair to say, however, that Michael effectively has a common law marriage. No one blames him for wanting to have a normal life. I would like to know if care was really denied that could have improved her quality of life.
