Well, I'm glad I didn't see that ~before~ we went riding! Yikes.
Heh... now you know why Bay was all booogie!
"I don't know, I just pulled the pic off of Strange Cosmos. It was one of those that make you say "DANG!"."
Dang is right! Wow, that guy is lucky to be alive.
OOOO, glad you posted that again. Mack hasn't seen it either.
Becky
The rain here as been spaced out pretty good. But I figure that is why it has been soooooo humid.
Hope you get some soon.

We've got that where we live now. It's actually an acid-based stain that etches itself into the concrete so it's not as likely to flake off. The color we have looks like leather. I really like it, but the sealer that was recommended scratched off real easy, so we put polyurethane over that and it still scratches. I'm sure it's something we did, coz my FIL put it down and he's not the most careful person in the world, but he works for free so I can't complain. I'm sure there's something better, but we were tired of fooling with it and wanted to move in. I just put those Teflon sliders or a piece of carpet under all the furniture and that took care of it. If you look at my "about page" at the picture of the cat jumping after a toy, you can see a small strip of it between the rug and the entertainment center. You can't tell much about it, but it'll give you an idea. The stuff costs $50 a gallon and 1 gallon will cover 400sf.
Great pictures Hair! Glad you finally got the trailer and can go out on your own. It looks like ya'll don't have to worry about the heat just yet since you're wearing jackets. We're down to t-shirt weather here and picking our riding places by how much shade there is. I rode yesterday on the trail with the covered bridges. They've done lots more work on it and it sure is nice. They've put down 8 to 10 inches of fine crusher-run limestone as the trail base so it never gets muddy. It's the best trail I've ever been on for working on a horse's gait. Nice and flat and straight, and SHADY. ;o)
Ooooo Sharn! This place looks like a keeper, and you can't beat the price. I hope it works out for you!
Well, I'm going to fix something to eat. It's a little too late for breakfast, but too early for lunch so I don't know what it'll be, but I'm hungry. I'm going to go mess with Ellie, the new baby, after lunch, and may go into town to an arts festival later on. It's a little overcast out right now, but I don't think it's supposed to rain. Hopefully it'll keep the heat down a little bit. Talk to y'all later...:o)
Boy - no wonder they call it Vesicular stomatitis. If they said hoof and mouth disease, people would freak out. Also makes sense that they would quarantine animals with the symptoms then.
There's actually more blue sky here today than yesterday, but everything is very waterlogged from last night so it doesn't feel any different from when it was raining ;~D
Even still... we're not going to ride today, we are behind on errands and chores, stalls need cleaned, we cheated yesterday, and we are out of new bedding.
I'm so glad to hear things are looking up for you - it's time your life took a turn to one full of blessings, with heartaches left behind.
Thankyou for such kind words. I am keeping good cheer right now, browsing real estate. I have seen some beautiful properties all within our price range. I just sent deaconjim details about a place that has a 3500sqft barn!
The kids are drawing and coloring and generally having a good time. As it rained yesterday afternoon and evening, i am waiting till it dries out a bit and will then let them play outside and in the pool. It is nice and warm here.
Deaconjim is pulling a 7-7 shift today, which will mean he is here this evening. I think i am going to cook him something special.
How is your latest foal doing? Have you managed to get close or is Mom still keeping you at bay?
If the weather holds, I am going to give Sugar a bath later on, should be interesting! Whenever she is clean, she will go directly to the nearest dirt and roll. I need to trim and brush her mane too and we are desperate for the new farrier to return our calls!
here is another property that I think is nice. We would need to clear some woodland and make pasture, but..........it is a possibility!

It's finally getting warm enough here to give baths :) amazing how dirty horses can get over the winter. They still get brushed so it's mindblowing to watch all the black water run off of white horses.
Newest baby is doing great and her mom decided we were okay and not likely to kill the child about day two. She still keeps a close eye on strangers though. The little girl is a pill, kicking her mom, getting under foot, generally being a real pest. Mares sure do have a lot of tolerance.
I so wish I had known about home schooling when my son was young. I think it's a great concept and so much better for the kids. I'm anxious to see how it goes.
Hope you have a good evening with husband home early for once :)
If you ever find a farrier that returns calls, hang on to him! :~D
If you keep Sugar tied or busy until she is completely dry, sometimes they don't roll right away ;~D I don't know what it is about white horses, they seem to try very hard to stay dirty... maybe they are always seeking camouflage.
Went out to see about Sugar, she is a little cranky today, probably because it is so hot. I know she would love a bath once we start, but as she is not in the best of moods, i am going to wait until tommorow am when deaconjim is here. We can do it together and that way I wont have to watch the children and wash her at the same time! Safer all round.
I am going to do the next best thing, get the wheelbarrow and and clean up the pasture! I just LOVE that job! : D
I like the looks of the color of your floor. The one I saw, the guy had it painted like it was blocks of marble. How he managed to get all his lines so straight is beyeond me:), but it was very pretty.
BEcky
I bet he painted the whole floor the color of the lines... let that dry, then measured and marked the blocks with tape. Painted the whole thing again and removed the tape.
