This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
We bought it! Slightly different, a little bit more expensive version than the base model we were going to get. When we got there, they didn't ~have~ any of the models we had been planning on... they've switched to this new model. Dang! OK - but the slightly better one they had sitting there, had some custom work done to it already, I think, for a sale that fell through or something, and she was willing to give it to us for ~about~ the same price. We're still adding plexiglass windows, but it already had the wall mats and a neat organizer thingy in the door and the saddle racks in it and a cute littly foldy cart that mounts on the wall.
It's ours! Hopefully we can get the truck down there and the brake controller put in it soon, and then we may work out a time share deal with dad to borrow the truck on weekends, or every other week, or something till he can decide on a new truck.
ONE STEP closer!
Very nice :)
You think it looks like a good starter trailer for us?
Yes, a very good trailer, starter or otherwise. :)
The divider is removable and the tack room wall swings open too, for even more space.
Now that is cool. I haven't seen one that does that.
Yeah - I thought that was a pretty cool feature for hauling hay in. - or helping someone move.
We've used our trailers for just about everything.
How sad for him. Was yella fella there before? I don't remember seeing him.
Yea! Very nice.
Very sad... Let us know if you hear what the autopsy says. We'd like to hope a healthy horse doesn't often just fall over dead :~\
Very glad to be so much closer to trail rides than I was this morning!
Maybe you can practice loading until you get the truck home. That way, when you are ready to go,your kids just hop right in:')
I'm homeschooling again. My son asked me to help him practice for an entrance exam he's taking in July. This is the one that used to think that books were evil!
Unfortunately, you can't load it if it's not on the truck... It could tip up when they step on the back.
And I think they'll load just fine in it. :~D
We're leaving it there till Dad brings the truck down.
I think he recently got yella fella and he told my husband that the horse that died had been with him for years, that's why I didn't think it was yella fella. On another note, I don't like yella fella's babies, they have great bodies but they are an odd color. The spring crop of babies are cavorting in his pasture and it's easy to tell which one's sire is yella fella.
