putting Bob Newhart's "lodge" show above his "shrink" show is a travesty!

I pretty much agree that all are worth consideration except for Seinfeld. Maybe its because I dont have a New York sense of humor.

Sorry about the "
armed with a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with 00 buckshot". I forget to clear that after posting to a previous thread - although I did think of shotguns occationally when forced to watch portions of Seinfeld.

putting Bob Newhart's "lodge" show above his "shrink" show is a travesty! I agree with that. I used to love the old Bob show. It was almost perfect.

Andy Griffith Show. Still in syndication since its inception.

IMHO, "NewsRadio" (save for the final season) was the single greatest American comedy ever on TV. Unusually brilliant chemistry for an ensemble cast TWICE the size of Seinfeld's core cast. With Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine, it's not too difficult for the viewer to identify and attach themselves emotionally to the characters.
NewsRadio had a bigger challenge, being that there were eight "main" characters on the show. The larger the ensemble, the more likelihood of the show blowing up in your face. This never happened on NewsRadio (until Phil Hartman passed away in May 1998), and I can't think of another show where eight actors worked so well together, so consistently.

Hey. Where's Wally & The Beav?
To: pissant
What is "Perfect Strangers" doing on that list? And why do shows like The Honeymooners, The Jackie Gleason show, Carol Burnett, etc., rank below it?

The Simpsons? Kids in the Hall? The Drew Carey Show? South Park? Monty Python's Flying Circus?
I swear, this guy missed a whole bunch of them.

How could they forget the great Red Green?

Some of my favorite lines from the show:
Vegetarian is an old Indian word that means "Lousy Hunter."
This tire went flat when we ran over a nail or maybe a squirrel while he was yawning.
Harold: What will you do if the fire gets out of control?
Red: We'll use the beer to put it out.
Harold: how will you get the beer on the fire?
Red: We'll drink it and use our bodies as fire trucks.
