The bill is revenue neutral (supposedly). Property tax relief and franchise tax elimination in exchange for some new business taxes.
The new tax increases taxes on cigarettes by $1.00 a pack, adds a 3% "Snack Tax", burdens business' with either a franchise tax or 1.5% payroll tax. However, it does gives property owners a small tax break. Hardly a fair trade-off...
I see neither of you has bothered to follow the fact that for the last three legislative sessions they have tried to get this tax to bring down, and lower the cap on property taxes. I am not so much in favor of this but you two should at least have some idea of what you are talking about, or is that not conservative?
