If conservatives want it, then it's not a tax increase right? Otherwise, they aren't conservatives, right? The bill is revenue neutral (supposedly). Property tax relief and franchise tax elimination in exchange for some new business taxes.

The bill is revenue neutral (supposedly). Property tax relief and franchise tax elimination in exchange for some new business taxes. The new "business" tax is an income tax. An let a former resident of Connecticut during the Weicker administration tell you that one a new income tax is imposed, no matter how small at first, it opens the door to a whole can of worms. Right now, the property tax is capped at 2.7 percent. They can't milk much more out of it w/o pissing people off. That is why they want to lower propertty taxes and shift it to taxes more easily hidden and, thus, more easily raised.
