By the way, what on earth does "over singing" mean? I see a lot of people using that term here. I must say in many years of music lessons and musical theater, I never heard that term before. Does it mean showboating? Or "pushing" too much and ending up with a forced sound? Or what? When I use it, I mean the latter -- getting distored tonal quality from pushing too hard.

I loved Nikko. I would buy a CD of his anytime. I love the Soul sound. Of course, I loved Ruben too. He is a good singer, however most liked Clay better. Their styles are just different. Clay could sing, but I couldn't watch him sing because his facial expressions nauseated me. But he does have a beautiful voice.

I also loved 'The Vonz." She always looked gorgeous and carried herself with grace and elegance. She will have a great career. She did deserve to go home, though.

She did deserve to go home, though. No argument here. She has consistency issues which costs her, despite my opinion (obviously not shared by all here) that she's the best natural talent of the group (and I'd have Anthony at #2 on that list).
As I mentioned earlier, she'll do fine in the recording studio, and the AI tour will do her loads of good in getting consistency.

Unkind? Nah, just a joke. If your Daddy shows up dressed in pimpin style....you gotta expect a few jokes. Lighten up, Francis.

I've taken exception to some of the comments about Vonzelle that I've thought were unwarranted, but Papa "Superfly" Solomon was just begging to be parodied for the "pimp chic" style he was sporting.

James Dean was intense. So was Montgomery Clift.
Yes, the good old days.

Of course, I always thought this show was about finding pop stars, but you go with what you got...That's why Constantine should have won.

The only similarity I see between the two of them is their skin color. For some here on FR, it's the only thing they see.

For everyone who was a
John Stevens fan last year!
His upcoming album sounds fantastic! The link above takes you to one the songs on the album.

That's why Constantine should have won.Oh my goodness, another Constantine fan! I didn't think they were allowed on this forum ... (grinning & ducking for cover!)
I didn't think Constantine had the best voice at all, but I thought he was by far the most interesting of the bunch. He also seemed very charming in a quirky way (though he desperately needed a good haircut! LOL!). I mean, anyone who can do an old Partridge Family song and make it fun has my vote! His downfall in the competition was picking boring songs. If he picks good material (and doesn't allow his band to shoehorn him into stuff that is good for the band but not for him as an individual performer), I think he will go far in his career.

You think his song choices were boring? NO WAY! He took interesting songs and made them more interesting. He took a song like My Funny Valentine, a song we have all heard a zillion arrangements of and made it new again. For that alone he should have won! Like Bo, Constantine was a seasoned performer. He never hit a bad note and he had great stage presence. He had a better pop voice than Bo.

No problem jonny. You set the tone for a wonderful live thread and Hildy had it all wrong. This thread has truly been an oasis!
I did have a great birthday. I love spending time with my daughters. They are the best!
To: silent_jonny
With tonight's hour long show and three hours next week, this thread will end up being over 12,000 posts before it's done!
To: kevkrom
Fantasia ("Baby mama") has basically done everything but wear a "Proud To Be A Ho" t-shirtThat made me giggle!
I didn't see any comparisons of Vonzell to Fantasia at all. But I agree with you, Vonzell seems like a very sweet girl with a strong family structure. She may be a bit spoiled, but heck aren't girls supposed to be spoiled?
I hope Vonzell does well. She wasn't ready to win AI, but she does have a lovely voice. She just tries too hard I think. That might be why people think she screams?

I've got my fingers crossed for 10,000 replies :) Not that it matters--I'd just like to see it.
I'll be pinging the thread shortly, but I'll be distracted by CSI. GREAT show so far. Gotta see how it ends!
To: silent_jonny
Well I will certainly try to do my part. Here's post #8078. :)
