Nope, here is Carrie & Vonzelle with her Daddy.Wow, that's a little unkind, isn't it?

Whoever wins, Carrie or Bo, I'll be happy.Yup, me too! Carrie has the pipes but Bo is the natural showman. I'd be happy to either listen to a Carrie CD, or go watch a Bo concert. Not the other way around, though. :)
By the way, what on earth does "over singing" mean? I see a lot of people using that term here. I must say in many years of music lessons and musical theater, I never heard that term before. Does it mean showboating? Or "pushing" too much and ending up with a forced sound? Or what?

She's average where I come from. Plus don't forget that you are seeing on the TV her at her best all glammed up.
Yes, she is attractive, but she is not stunning.

Sorry, I can tell you that she is boring and not up there with anyone.
I think if she won it would be a mistake, she will be very forgettable.
I think she is a nice girl though.
I hope she is lucky enough to make some good money before they forget her.

Over singing means inappropriate theatrics within a song that doesn't belong there.
It can remove all soul, meaning and tenderness intended for that song.
In this case, she was always too loud seemingly because she felt her strength was to be loud.

She's very good and recently married Elvis Costello.
Both are excellent writers/performers and the collaboration of both might be some terrific music.
Well be waiting and seeing.

I have been on this live thread since the beginning. NOT ONE single person who participates has ever said anything remotely racist.
Vonzell is a gorgeous girl but not the best singer. It's as simple as that.
To: Palladin
Manson, LOL. Either one, I avert my eyes. In fact, I didn't watch AI tonight, preferring a PBS special on James Dean. A very talented guy surrounded by heavyweight writers and directors who knew how to foster his talent. Nothing like simon and paula and whatshisname, the three stooges. Ah, the good ole days.

I ordered T.A. from Amazon a couple of months ago and got word the other day that it finally shipped. America, Heck Yeah!! (FR version). "Comin' again to save the motherloving day, yeah!"
(I missed it in the theater, but rented it last night. Awesome!. Though, Blockbuster had the R-rated version, and not the Unrated Uncensored version. Somehow, I think I'm happier with the "R"....)

Singing the National Anthem (that'll come in handy for those NASCAR appearances). It would help if she could sing it in tune. That was painful on the video.

Now don't get me started on Fantasia! How the hell did she pull it off? Someone sabotaging the sound system during one of Diana's numbers in the final seemed to help.

I don't know why the animosity towards Vonzelle. She as sweet, pretty, had a great voice and a great personality. Carrie has a great voice, but come one guys, a bit short on the personality. The fact is they're all good and will all have careers. But this negative stuff about all of the black women finalists is just...well...you know. I'm with you. What I don't understand is that while Vonzelle has been inconsistent, and tends to over-sing when she gets lost, people around here say she's "screaming" even on the songs when she is perfectly, 100% in control and just displaying good power and support.
Then, there are all of the Fantasia comparisons, which are ridiculous; 1) their vocal styles are not even close to the same thing, and 2) Vonzelle appears to be a sweet, nice, family girl while Fantasia ("Baby mama") has basically done everything but wear a "Proud To Be A Ho" t-shirt. The only similarity I see between the two of them is their skin color.

My favorite from last year was Jennifer Hudson. She had superior pipes. You're kidding, right? All she could do was "belt", anything else was a compelte mess. Latyoya and Diana were easily the best two singers last year.

You sure know how to host a gr8 party. =^)Thank you :)
To: Hildy
You know what's going to be weird? Finding a song that both Bo and Carrie can sing for their final show. It's just an odd battle, they're so different. Pick a southern rock/country crossover song and you've got them both covered. Of course, I always thought this show was about finding pop stars, but you go with what you got...

Since several of you expressed interest in tonight's "World's Worst Auditions" show, I'll ping everyone to the thread at around 9pm EST :) Jonny

I loved Ruben too! And he seems to be such a sweetheart. I even have his CD. It's really good. :) I'm probably one of the few here that like him though.

At the beginning, I thought Nadia could win it all. Nadia had no real voice at all -- great on stage, but no chops for this kind of competition. I still have reservations about Bo's vocal ability, and he's miles better than Nadia.
