Of the boys, I think Anthony is in the same boat as Carrie. A fine natural voice, although less advanced that Carrie, but no performance skills whatsoever. Simon has always been too harsh with Anthony, because Simon never liked Clay and unfairly sees Anthony as another Clay. Actually, I think Simon's problem with Anthony is that he has really sucked the past few weeks. He has been way out of key. Just the way Nikko was last week. He sang his song is 5 or 6 keys and even invented one or two.

I agree that Anthony's recent performances have not been as strong as he was earlier in the competition. Early in the competition, Simon said Anthony reminded him of Clay, and he's been pretty danged hard on the kid ever since. Anthony does have a good voice. There must be some reason why he made it to the final 8 even with Simon ragging on him almost from the time the contestants first went to Hollywood. I think Anthony's self-confidence is pretty well shot by now, and it shows in his performances.

Can you please add me to this ping list... I had no idea that FR had such a great thread about American Idol!

My two cents: Constantine needs to stop all that poutting... it is bizarre. I prefer Bo's voice over his any day. Bo really should trim his hair, he doesn't need to go hog-wild and cut it all off, just update it a bit.

Anwar is really annoying. He was interesting for about 3 weeks, but now he's predictable and a Stevie Wonder wannabe. He's another one whose facial expressions freak me out. That smile while he sings is just creepy.

I really like Carrie and hope she wins. I should state that I am not normally a country fan, so that's not the reason I like her. I think she needs to change her look a bit. Last week she looked like an age-progressed picture of Jon Benet. Weird. She can sing though. It seems like Paula doesn't like her at all.

My top three predictions: Carrie, Vonzelle, Constantine.

Cheers!

I prefer Bo's voice

He could sing the phone book
and I'd still vote for him.

""He could sing the phone book

Me too. I loved his version of "Time in a Bottle". There hasn't been a voice like his in popular music since the early seventies. It's too bad we live in a time when Jim Croce probably wouldn't get a record label because of his image. I was raised on him, the Mommas & the Pappas, and all the other ugly but greats of the time. What does this generation have???

I even loved Bo's version of "Corner of the Sky"
from Pippin.

His gravel-y voice transcends the generations
and you're right...he's a throwback to the days of
Jim Croce and Harry Chapin.

My first 3 picks are Bo, Bo, and.Bo. =^)

Thanks for the interesting post about Kelly. I guess my daughter will be at one of the last performances of this current tour.

She will see Kelly in concert on May 11th.

If your daughter is interested in doing a little review of the KC concert, perhaps you can post it here on this thread. I know I'd enjoy reading what she has to say.

I'm sure she would be willing to do that. She's a freeper, not very actively right now, but she's comfortable and famiiar with FR.

I'll be sure and ask her when she gets home.

That would be great. If she's interested, she will have an eager audience, in me, at least, since I can't get to any of the concerts this year.

Thanks Ken...interesting link.
She obviously doesn't "embrace his imperfections"
like Paula promotes.

We always call Scott the 'peach popsicle' after that
awful shirt he wore several weeks ago.

His success in this competition seems more a reflection of America's standards than of his talent, IMO.
He may very well have gotten the short end of the stick
with that domestic dispute business, but the whole thing is still pretty raunchy.

America "idol"izes anti-heros.

Good morning, texasflower. I thought you and your daughter might be interested in this review of Kelly's concert. It's from her stop in Cleveland.

Link to review.

Hey SJ!

I think we should start a drinking game tonight---every time one of the judges says "Brilliant", we have to take a drink.

(it's really getting on my nerves, that word, so I'm gonna have to do something to make it pleasant)

This might explain Paula's recent behavior :)

Thanks.
And as always, if you want on or off this ping list, just let me know.
