Thank you for all the information you're able to find. I appreciate it.
Carrie's single "Inside Your Heaven" was #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, knocking Mariah Carey down to #2. Congratulations, Carrie!
Anyone that can knock Mariah Carey down a peg is all right with me :)
The funny thing is, Bo is not pushing "Inside Your Heaven" in his TV appearances. He's going with "Vehicle."
Bo is a class-act. He doesn't want to steal Carrie's thunder by singing the same song publicly. (And he probably hates the song anyway--I think we're all in agreement on that.)
In my opinion, in order to succeed, both Carrie and Bo have to follow the path taken by Kelly. She did not rush out her first album, and she insisted on making a high-quality second album, then literally broke away from the AI/19 Management/BMG crowd. She's also working very, very hard at her career.
I think this would apply to Bo more than Carrie. Nothing against Carrie (I'm still a fan :), but Bo is older and has a better idea of who he is and what he wants to be. Carrie, on the other hand, often seems like a leaf in the wind. She would probably benefit from the strict management of AI--at least for a while, until she's able to stand on her own.
But either way, hard work and long hours will be required from both of them.
In the mornings I listen to John Boy & Billy. It's a great show with great people--and hysterically funny :-D
Constantine stopped by recently for a live interview. Here he is wearing a JB&B t-shirt and posing with Miss Z-Max (show sponsor) Dana Moody.
Constantine's "bedroom eyes" weren't lost on John Boy. Here he is doing his best Lt. Dan impersonation--LOL! :)
FYI--today is Mystery-AK's birthday :)
Smothering management is more like it. The contestants signed by 19/BMG sacrifice an awful lot of their sales income and musical control in exchange for the TV exposure and a shot at a career. They even sacrifice control over their own image and name (as a brand). 19/BMG has a habit of going with cheesey songs that they think might make them a quick commercial buck. They don't give a rat's butt about the long-term careers of these AI winners and runners up.
In four seasons of AI, only one person appears to have a real, lasting career. The jury is still out on Clay and Fantasia. So the odds are against Carrie and Bo.
At 19-20 years old, Kelly was as young as, or even younger than Carrie when she won the first AI. So age, alone, shouldn't be a handicap. Carrie seems to know what she wants, which is to do country music. As I've mentioend before, the key will be finding quality songs and performing them with heart and soul.
I genuinely want to see her succeed, if for no other reason than an odd one. That is to stick it to that total AI rip-off, Nashville Star, LOL!
The obligatory AI summer tour starts in July, and both Bo and Carrie have said their albums are coming out in October. The tour runs through August, which leaves only about a month to select the songs, arrangements, musicians, back-up singers, learn, rehearse and record all 10 to 12 songs, etc. I'm worried for both Carrie and Bo that the quality of their albums will suffer because of the rush to get them out.
Mystery-ak, I hope you have a very.........
I think I've heard of them! Yes you did see Rick and Bubba on t.v. They broadcast live on Turner South. They are good friends of Hannity's.
Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear mystery. Happy birthday to you! :) And many more. Cha, cha, cha!
Clark's new album has sold just over 500 copies to date, making him a total laughing stock on all the music boards I visit.
500 copies?
The sales of Ruben's second album were very disappointing. If he puts out a third album and it also tanks quickly, his career is done.
I used to feel sorry for Ruben, but not anymore. He can sue and point fingers all he wants, but if his career implodes it will be because of his own doing more than anthing else. Good riddance.
NEW YORK (AP) Bo Bice didn't win the fourth season of American Idol, but he did win his girlfriend's hand in marriage and the No. 1 spot on next week's Billboard hot singles sales chart.
The American Idol runner-up wed Caroline Fisher in Helena, Ala., Bice's publicist, Roger Widynowski, confirmed to The Associated Press Thursday.
The couple, who have been together for almost two years, exchanged vows at the New Hope Presbyterian Church on June 15 and their marriage certificate was granted Thursday in Shelby County, according to a report in People magazine.
Bice, 29, and Fisher, 24, met when he worked as a guitar store clerk and frequented the Ragtime Cafe in Hoover, where Fisher worked as a waitress.
His Inside Your Heaven single replaces Idol winner Carrie Underwood's version of the same song at No. 1 on next week's Billboard singles sales chart, a first in the history of the sales chart, RCA Records said Thursday.
Hiya jonny...
Twice the Bice - how nice!
Thanks for the birthday wishes....Im sorry it took so long to respond, but your pings somehow got buried....
Good for him (I hear the baby's due in November)
Hey Jonny, great to hear from you!
Great news!
So happy for them. Can't stop smiling.
Must buy his CD to help support the fam =^)
Good morning, Jonny. What I want to know is who are the 500 lost souls who actually bought Corey Clark's album?! Reviews of it have been so bad that they must be classics in music history.
The song is awful, although it was clearly chosen with Carrie in mind. It doesn't fit Bo's style at all. The weird thing is (from a marketing point of view) that the AI producers made both the winner and the runner up release the same song. So it's competing with itself in the market. Go figure. Bo has not even pushed "Inside Your Heaven," which is supposed to be the A side of the disc. He's been going with his cover of "Vehicle."
Thanks for the ping jonny.
I'm on vacation but had to check in with my FRiends.
Do you think this marriage will last, given that Bo's road to stardom is just beginning?
How supportive.
