I'd love to know what they said to each other. Gosh, I'm such a GIRL! I should be embarrassed to be so tickled about this, but I'm not!
Thanks for these great pics and all the information you've managed to find!
Here's a sample: "Warbling through tears and fireworks, Underwood's rendition of "Inside Your Heaven" sounded just as lousy last night as it had on Tuesday."
Here's another: "Carrie Underwood, the 22 year old small-town gal who charmed America with her sweet voice and total lack of understanding of the lyrics of almost song she was singing ....
They also made snide comments about the skit they did. Something about they guess that's all the answers they're going to get about Paula.
I don't know if the chemistry would be there, but I remember DG as a sharp young lady.
I was at the FINALE both days, and they are FOR SURE dating. It was extremely apparent on Tuesday, but absolutely unavoidably apparent when after her first song on Wednesday night, she RAN off stage and threw herself into Anthony's arms. She was sooo happy.
AWWWWwwww. That is so cute! With my kids being about this age, I just love to see happy relationships!
Nothing about how good it sounded earlier in the evening? Did they treat all of the contestants as sweetly?
As if Paula owed them any answers. Why don't worry about who Rather was sleeping with when he ran that false story? lol
My sis found Mr Right in Tejas and still lives there, but I will probably be better off in sunny FL where the old guys will think of me as young and glam. Aging sux! Someone should write a song!
As a rule I don't read the Post, my husband does, but I happened to see the article on AI so I thought I'd read it. The Post is full of nothing but arrogant Libtards. All they care about is harming conservatives and making fun of people. I'm sure they believe the majority of the AI audience is conservative. I hate paying for it but my husband insists.
I feel the same. Bo was my favorite, but I'm glad Carrie won.
I think Bo was happy with his record contract, the car, and fronting Lynard Skynard in front of a large national audience. That huge grin on his face while he was singing "Sweet Home" was all the proof I needed.
Everybody won.
Especially AI. Carrie and Bo saved it.
Good evening, jonny. I posted my longer reply when I came home from lunch earlier. Now am home for the evening and can catch up. You're right, of course. Carrie did begin to update her look after Simon told her she looked "too old," or something to that effect.
No question at all the girl has talent and beauty. No reason why she shouldn't do well, although I'll be interested to see what direction she takes her music after the first obligatory AI CD is out of the way.
It's just that somewhere along the line she lost her appeal for me. It's just one of those things. I'm certainly open to buying her stuff in the future if I like her music, because she certainly does have a lovely voice.
It was mentioned in the show that over 500 million votes were cast, so the margin of 10 million would be less than 2 percent.
I liked the Star Spangled Banner girl. She's a good sport.
And she sings it a heckuvalot better than Roseanne Barr did!
You are right, my apologies. :)
Now, I think the best idol singer ever sang on Junior Idol and was totally wasted -- Lucy Hale.
She should have waited for the real thing.
She was consistently excellent.
Anthony is a remarkable talent, in my opinion. He was the youngest and most inexperienced contestant, and it showed. But he certainly didn't deserve all the constant harsh criticism from Simon. With the right guidance and management Anthony could have an outstanding career.
I don't know if you've watched the show all four seasons, but I have. The amount of manipulation the producers and at least one judge, Simon, pull is amazing. They have ALWAYS reserved the right to select the AI in the end if they don't like the person the public votes in.
For example, suppose the "vote for the worst" crowd had managed to get Scott to the top and he won the AI voting. The producers have always reserved the right to say nope, we choose X. They know that would be a public relations nightmare, so they avoid ever being in that position by manipulating things like the sound system, theme nights, and probably even the song lists the contestants get to choose from.
Most of all, they manipulate the mostly young voting audience with the judges' comments. When Simon tagged Anthony as a kind of weaker Clay Aiken, that pretty much killed any chance the kid had. Heck, when Simon tagged Clay as being suitable "only" for Broadway, that hurt Clay's chances. The judges' comments are parrotted over and over and over and over again by the kids who populate the AI message boards -- and I'm sure in schoolyards all over the country.
With all due respect to Carrie, it was no accident that the two songs they chose suited her style and not Bo's. It certainly was no accident that, in his final comments Tuesday night, Simon made a point of reminding the audience that Carrie was younger than Bo and supposedly less experienced (not true; she didn't come right off the farm onto AI), and that "she had done enough to win."
Conspiracy? No, of course not. It's hard-nosed business. They aren't going to blow a million-dollar contract on a commodity they don't believe has commercial value. They are looking for the relatively quick return on their investment from the winner and anyone else they sign. They market the winner while the demand is hot, then it's on to the next season.
Kelly said she followed Clay's lead and signed with another agency earlier this year because, when it came time for her to do her 2nd album, the AI record producers were not supportive and she even had trouble getting them on the phone.
You know what's funny? I watched that same Fox and Friends interview this morning (and wasn't Carrie cute as a slightly exhausted button? :) but I didn't even notice that Bo had on sunglasses. Guess I'm too used to him wearing them now. I *did* notice that he was chewing gum during the interview! I know his mama was watching that and thinking, "Dadgumit, Bo, spit out the gum!" LOL!
I totally agree with you about Anthony. I think he has a very genuine personality and a good voice. The judges were unjustly harsh with him on many ocassions. My husband believed they were trying to sabotage him. I agree.
I really do believe they manipulate the viewers too.
Having said that, I think Carrie was deserving of the win.
