Are you going to check with the pound or a local "no kill" shelter?
I know a new kitty wont take away the pain of losing this one...but it would help to have a baby purring in your ear. You have my prayers...I don't have kitties but I have a very special little "human" dog. She went through some very scary times this last year...and I cried many times!
Hugs to you Sandy.

I should rescue a kitty or two, but I don't know if I can walk into the pound because I'll walk out with six cats and end up divorced.
If a kitty doesn't adopt me in the next few months, I'll go rescue a couple of kittens. As long as my husband is with me, I'll only walk out with two. :-)

Don't forget to introduce us to your new baby(s) when you get him/her/them.

Oh, absolutely! Massive amounts of pictures will be forthcoming, and their Viking training will begin early.

Sandy, I so sorry to hear about your Tigger. She's sunning herself now, purring in a field of catnip, waiting...and someday you'll be reunited in joy.

I hope this helps, Sandy
FROM TIGGER TO MOM
Mom misses me again today.
I heard her cry a few days ago from far away.
She thinks that there's a reason or rhyme.
Though put very simply, it was my time.
I wish it was longer, her love was the best.
Even if Phoebe, Tom and I sometimes put her to the test.
There was always time to savor her love.
From an interrupted nap and a lift from above.
To nuzzle Mom's smooth cheek and chin.
Away from the big room's loud noisy din.
Feeling soft words and fingers deep in my fur.
Mom misses me as much as I miss her.
On our hearts it is so deeply written.
To share her love Mom needs a very special kitten.
Neither to big nor too small. With eyes green and bright. One at first sight, she'll be instantly smitten.

That's very sweet.I've always been owned by cats throughout my life, and about 10 years ago a big grey male named Boogie came into our lives. Not long after,Rusty came along, and our lives have never been the same, thank God.
They're so sweet and loving.Boog's getting on in years but the kitten he really is inside still comes out from time to time-Rusty sees to that!
Sandy-sorry about your loss.I'll cry me a river when Boog passes.Take comfort in the knowledge that you and Tig will be reunited someday.

Sincerest condolences on the loss of your lovely Tig. It's never easy, but there's something especially vicious about having them go so suddenly. I bawled like a baby when I had to put Persephone down.
I'll second the prior recommendation of petfinder.com -- they knock themselves out to find homes for critters who need them, and they work with local shelters in the placement process. Good folks.
My cats are about to get a little "in honor of Tigger" catnip, and some extra snuggles....

I am so sorry to learn of your loss of Tigger. I lost my very sweet Phoebe in 2002, and while I now have the very big, handsome, friendly tuxedo-coated Frank, (rescued from imminent shelter placement), I'll never have another one like my little Phoebe. I once read somewhere that our kitties "bow out" so early so that others can take their places and have the same chance to live with people who love them. You will find the right one, or it will come to you.

They are all unique, aren't they? I'll never find another Tigger.
Here is my Phoebe:

She's a gorgeous lady! They are all hedonistic voluptuaries, aren't they! My Phoebe was a very petite (8-1/2 lbs.) tawny tiger girl. I wish I could post a picture of her for you to see. (Guess I need HTML boot camp to figure that out!)

Sorry to hear of your loss Sandy. Our dear "Sammy" died very unexpectantly a year ago April 6, 2004.
I still miss and sometimes shed a tear for my dear friend!
Getting 2 new kitties has helped alot but they will never replace Sammy.
To: SandyInSeattle
I'll join you in celebrating and in grieving the too short life of Tigger. My favorite kitty died the Sunday after 911, peacefully, of old age. At times I still sense her 'presence' at night as I go to sleep. More than likely it's the imprint she left on my heart instead of her actual presence.

Oh my gosh! I responded about Tigger before I scrolled down further and then I saw your picture of Phoebe. She looks so much like Kiki, the cat I lost right after 911. If the back leg were black with a white paw they could have been twins.
Kiki got her name because when I adopted her from the San Antonio Humane Society she was so tiny and underaged, she couldn't meow, all she could say was ki ki in a whisper like voice. The Humane Society didn't really want me to take her because they thought she wouldn't make it but I fell in love and followed my heart.

Up past my bedtime, to say my wife and I are sorry to hear about your loss.
Hope there is a Kitty heaven, because if there is, she will be playing w/my kitty.
