Yes, we all went. The con was from Friday to Sunday. I took Friday off from work and we went to the hotel in Orlando (right next to Sea World) Friday morning. We stayed at the hotel that was hosting the con. They had good room rates and for the con they had a special closed-circuit channel piping anime to the rooms the whole time.
Friday and Saturday just my daughter and I went. My wife took the boys shopping at the mall and then spent the rest of the time by the pool. On Sunday I went ahead and bought the other three one-day passes and we all went together. We watched the cosplay contest and then mom and daughter went to watch some anime while the boys and I went to the 24-hour gaming room and played some video games together.
Everybody had a great time and the boys are busily planning their own costumes for next year.
Did you see a lot of Naruto wannabes? When I went to my con, Fullmetal Alchemist wasn't out over here so there weren't any Eds, even (but all the merchandise was cheap!). Lots of Inuyasha cosplayers and more stinky ninjas than you can shake a fist at. Also the inevatible six females crossplaying as Kenshin.
Yep, a lot of Naruto. There was also a lot of Inuyasha, FMA, Final Fantasy characters, and Japanese schoolgirl wannabes.
Hope there wasn't a Sailor Man there. Those are scary.
I didn't see any Sailor Moon, but there were quite a few guys dressed in dark suits, white shirts, dark ties and carrying around white crosses. I wasn't too sure what that was all about. There were also a few Triguns walking around. There were a couple from Bleach which I guess is the new "hot" show.
It was obvious that there were a number of Adult Swim fans in attnedance.
Not sure about the dudes with crosses - were they really huge crosses? Could have been Wolfwood from Trigun.
Bleach is a great show. Watch a few! Lunar translates every "kuso" as harshly as possible, so if you're watching with the kiddies, go with anime-keep's sub.
Anime cons - fun for the whole family!
Clare and I are going to AnimeBoston at the end of the month. She made two anime music videos and submitted them to the contest. There were over 90 entries, and 30 finalists, and BOTH of Clare's vids made it to the finals! She was so thrilled!
