I hate green peas. I don't mind the soup, but I hate canned green peas.
My mom used to make me sit at the table till I ate my peas and I would sit there for hours. (I can be rather obstinate too.) It was a battle of wills and I usually won.
Then I learned to eat everything but my peas and ask if I could be excused. My mom would say "After you eat your peas." At which point I would stuff every pea in my mouth and run either to the bathroom to spit them in the toilet or outside to spit them in the shrubs. I would just make it before throwing up, but I got pretty good at it.
When I grew up, I swore I would never have a green pea in my house. And wouldn't you know...Joshua loves them.
I don't care for many canned vegetables. But peas I enjoy if they're fresh or frozen.
What I can't stand is cauliflower...gag...
Hey, there IS something I don't like. Canned peas are icky.
Like I said, my family never really did the "you must eat this before you can have dessert or leave the table" thing. But if they had...I'd STILL be sitting at the table when it came to those things. They made me literally gag.
I can eat them now if I have to, but I don't care for them.
I hate canned peas too. Eventually I learned to just swallow things like peas and beans without chewing. That's when I started having a pitcher of water by my plate...
