Home is behind, the world ahead, |
hehehe...I always surprise myself by discovering how co-dependent I am on the Hobbit Hole.
Must....have....internet....access....
It's kinda of like being forced onto a diet during the holidays! ~shudder~
I haven't been to Myrtle Beach in 20 years, so I don't know that much about it. I do know that a group from our church goes every January to "Beat the Blahs." The wimmin shop and the men golf.
But I don't think you'd get beach weather. Even if it's warm enough to be on the beach, the water would still be vey cold. And I don't know how "active" the sites are in the off season. Virginia Beach is like a ghost town in the winter.
If you're coming that far south, and with the girl scouts, why not consider Savannah?
Weirdos.
I do have two sibs who will not eat anything with a trace of spice, so they have permission to eat alternate foods when we have something good. And one brother who won't eat chicken. Just won't. Turkey, sure, other meat, yes, but not chicken, so if we have chicken, he gets peanut butter.
I'm going to reallllly miss everyone during my four days on the road!
It was bad enough just being without internet at home while I was doing the office! Something that's soon to be repeated as I won't be able to get on much if at all while I'm living at the house...starting Saturday or so.
ROTFL!! Yeah, I have a bad memory of our #1 son and carrots.
I haven't experienced anything much worse than caffeine withdrawal. Glad it has worked out for you.
You know, you'd think she'd have picked up on the fact that I couldn't eat anything with the consistency of mushed peas earlier - she had to spread that stuff on bread and let me eat it that way when I was a baby. And she didn't take me to the dentist until I was 6 because she was afraid of what I'd do...
Good idea, especially since the Juliette Low house is there and everything. One of the girls in the troop is thinking of going to college at the Art School there. My great-niece is considering the same school.
When I was a kid the rules were simple. Eat your food or go hungry and have it reheated for your next meal. Worked pretty well I must say. All 4 of us will eat just about anything put in front of us.
hah! Texas weather you have.
it was squash for me
I hope you liked red meat.
I am having trouble with elf-boy. He just doesn't like food. His menu has expanded the least bit recently with the addition of cheese pizza, though.
I visited the House and while it was interesting, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be.
It probably would be more interesting for the Juniors or Cadettes. I think my 'Rangers' would be bored.
My brother has had the problem with his oldest. The 'you don't get desert unless you finish helps sometimes. It works better when the younger kids DO finish and get to eat some desert in front of him. It does not seem to work all the time. I think he is outgrowing it but I am not sure since I only seem them once or twice a year. I am not at all an expert at any child rearing stuff but I think it is important not to let kids get away with being finicky eaters (as much as possible anyway). It is a real shame to see such kids all grown up and refusing to eat certain things because they have long since convinced themselves the hate it. I guess it is pretty had to distinguish between a kid being picky and a really food incompatibility (my mom loves bananas but can't eat more than a bite of one without 'revisiting it later'). Kids are an area I am kick to offer advice but really have not got any experience (just observation). Most people like how they turned out but have a hard time identifying what 'raising' techniques made them turn out that way.
There are a lot of foods I just hate. Ate 'em as a kid, won't ever eat them again. And a lot of foods I just can't eat because of their consistency.
I think you people who aren't picky eaters are lucky, but there's more to it than just not trying foods.
Spam is a food I hate...
