The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Cool... maybe you can do a "get certified within three months" deal and they'd compensate you... I'm clueless about these things, though.

Which place is it?

I rented a car. Not at the same price as what I got for last weekend, but not much more. Only for one day. I did this for two reasons.

I've never really rented a car on my own before. I'm wanting to see how it goes, before the ShootMoot, in case I need to know something in advance.

I want to go down to the VW salvage yard that's an hour or so away and try to get myself a fender. It's gonna be in the EIGHTIES this Saturday! My car won't make it. Whenever I hit a bump, any little bump or rough spot in the road, it goes "SHAKESHAKESHAKESHAKESHAKE" until I step on the brake briefly. I don't know why.

Heh!

I don't know why.

It means you should get that checked out.

That new store I told you about. Not sure if it'd be a good place to work or not...but the pay is better than most of the other jobs I've looked at, and I'd have more interaction with customers, which I'd like.

It'd probably mean I'd have to get over my hatred for hardware, though, if I really got it. *shudder*

Been doing it ever since I got a new tire on it.

Last night, I'd have said see if they have a spot for me just in case I need it... today, though, I'm much more optimistic.

Walking distance, right?

Time for class. See you in a few hours. I'm thinking of having a quick omelet for dinner before heading to choir.

Yeah...less than a mile away, I believe.

I feel like I've accomplished nothing today...but I guess other than applying for jobs and following up on 'em...there isn't a lot to do. But after such a hectic week, that seems vey wrong.

I haven't started the books. Maybe that's what I can do next. I know I need to go out in search of furniture too, but...I don't wanna.

Sounds like your tire wasn't balanced properly.

And double-check to be sure the lugs were tightened well while you're at it, sis!

At first I thought Hair had said that. Thankfully, I realized it before I hit post...

I guess I should take it back and have the tire place look at it...

Make sure you tell them it started AFTER you bought a tire from them. They should fix it for you.

We added a prayer for Wisdom for the Cardinals in the Conclave to our nighttime prayers with the kids. We missed the Monday morning Mass that was at our Parish that was also to pray for Wisdom for the Cardinals.

I read on the Pope thread that, because of John Paul II's declining health over the last couple of years, the Cardinals had already been doing some serious thinking about the next Pope, so they didn't need a long conclave. Even Chris Matthews mentioned Cardinal Ratzinger's homily at the Pope's funeral and the one at the Mass yesterday before the start of the Conclave as being very powerful and probably helping sway the vote his way. I'm sure Chrissy is not pleased with the choice. Ratzinger was WAY too orthodox for him and his friends.

Yet another sign of the work of the Lord!

Definitely take it back to the place you bought your tire from.

And I second what Corin said....be sure you tell them you bought a tire there and the problems started then.
