New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Wow, this connection is slower than molasses tonight, must have some birds on the wire or something...
Yeah, I think that is it, just haven't got used to it yet. As big as something, for sure. That drive across Kansas sure makes it seem that way but I like the plains and prairie, each region has its own identity, and it has been great being able to see all of them over the years.
Heh. How much money did they spend for that lame slogan? The only reason I remember it is because of all the complaining about the money.
As we recollect, about three quarters of a million dollars. The talk shows had a field day with it.
Kitty seems intrigued. She stuck her head through the flap but only when I've held it open for her. She keeps coming back and looking at it.
I bet Mr. DarcyCat would have been through it already.
~intrigued~
It's a thought...
Hey, she will probably be going through it, back and forth, all day long, while you're at work. But for now, "just because the door is open, that is no reason to go through it".
*Sigh* Maybe she's on a power trip. "Why go through the flap when I can make the human get up and open the door?"
Like "Cool Beans!" only different....
Remember how I say there are days I'd *pay* to work for a man? Well last Friday was one of those days; today is too. *grrrr*
I have a big internal briefing coming up. Etiquette dictates I let my immediate, estrogen-ridden management review my slides. Well, I made an appointment with them for last Thursday. They stood me up - no call, no email, no explanation, no apology. Then I get them together on Friday afternoon. They harumphed and rolled their eyes and had issues with every bullet on every slide. Thing is, the briefing is a review of work that is already finished - work they reviewed and approved already. (they didn't appreciate me reminding them of that....) So bottom line from Friday is that *all* of my slides must change. This at 1700.
When do I have to give my dress rehearsal? Why today 0930!
I would pay to work for a man.
And your duties are pretty much "tell me you did something, and for how long, and hand me the check" :D
Annual performance review? "I really like it when you use the "Cute Puppy Pictures" checks."
If I rummage deep enough or call my mom I could find the one that was done in Germany ten years ago, but in the four years between then and my discharge I gained a couple of ribbons and so on.
Probably not going to happen. Oh well.
Mornin'
Lil' I hear whatcher sayin' about workin' for a man. May I just remind you that Rasputin is a man. However, I'd seriesly doubt he shares some of the male...er...qualities...of his namesake.
Beautiful day here. S'posed to get up to the 80s. Gotta go to a funeral this afternoon. Co-worker's wife passed away last week after a long fight with lung cancer. She was in her early 50s.
And, I need to share this "trivial prayer request" story.
Luke's favorite story is the Three Little Pigs. He has a play set that is a house with books and has the wolf, the three pigs and Little Red Riding Hood figurines. He likes to take the "characters" when we go places. Yesterday he had a pig and LRRH...don't ask me why.
But riding through Home Depot he lost the pig. He and Mom searched for 15 minutes while I was loading mulch into the truck. When I was done I started tracing their route. I just whispered a simple prayer "Lord help me find this stupid toy because you know how important it is to him."
I literally looked down and picked it up. I am not making this up.
Thanksgivings, indeed. You don't ask, you don't get! ;o)
Condolences to your co-worker. Early 50's just cuts WAY too close to home.
Yep...I'm really intrigued. And the thing is, Steve is too...that's always good.
We just can't afford it right now.
And it would really be better to have a bit of land, but not really nessessary for just one hive.
The guy came and got the bees sometime this morning...left a quart of honey with a chunk of comb in it on the little table with the sugar water.
Mornin'
Beautiful day here too. Rosie is flying home today, and her kitties are very grateful. They were desperate enough to look to me for attention last night.
It's gonna be a long hard couple weeks to the end of the semester. I'd appreciate prayer...
Your story was intriguing enough for me to think about having a hive. But we're in the middle of suburbia. I'd have to think it through.
We ain't got room for chickens.
Or a goat...
You got it.
Thanks :-)
