The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They've started on the sunroom....demolished the back stoop (there's concrete under there) today. After the ground dries a little bit, they'll pour the concrete pad. Miss Cat want's to know where her stoop went.

OB I picked up a grill....what kind of varmint would you like?

We just had a little bit of sun here - we all went down to the little courtyard here and I wrote and Jim and Margaret played music and the rest just talked. The wind is cool, but the sun was nice and warm. Very pleasant!

Schedule tomorrow...hmmm...well, you know the peaks of the area better than I would! I'd kinda like to see...what's the market area in Seattle, with lots of coffee shops and such? But then, that's an awfully big place - Seattle, I mean. You may know of better places.

One more hour until we get picked up - I'm not sure if I'm nervous or not. I still wonder what brother's fiancee thinks of me after the way we were introduced...her basically being dropped off at my place despite her cat allergies. *sigh*

Well, Seattle's not ~my~ kind of place, I'd rather show you something pretty!

I'll think about it. When should I call you? Or - better yet, why don't you call me, when you've got free cell time and it's convenient to sit and talk and plan.

I figured you'd likely have some better ideas. ;-)

I could call later tonight, if that'd be OK - how late is too late?

I bet we're up later than you, with your time zone change! Tonight is South Park night, so we'll be up till 10:30, but better not call after 9:30 ;~D

If we miss you, call in the morning. You have our number?

Good morning!

(no I'm not late - just early for tomorrow!) My head is still spinning from work, but I got to work in my garden a bit this evening. Whew! Nothing like turning soil. :)

When I get back to Colorado...I'll have to figure out which herbs I'd like that Jen doesn't already have. It's the closest we get to a garden, but it'll do for now.

I'd still like to try 'maters! Just little cherry ones. They'd look pretty, and I'd eat 'em.

Let's get a coffee bush and a chocolate bush. Grow 'em inside and we'll both be happy.

You could easily do the cherry or the little grape tomatoes in a pot on the balcony.

I think there's a little more to both substances than that... ;-)

Besides, with my luck, Tam'd eat a bunch of coffee beans and get even more nuts than usual...

Heh, he would. He has decided that since you've abandoned him, he should get his attention from me. S'ok but I don't think I'm going to play fetch with a cat. It's just not dignified.

Went out and took some pictures with the new camera today!

I thought this was a very artsy pic of the pony with an unfortunate original background of my neighbor's house, so I dressed up the background a little in photoshop. ;~D

We had a blimp fly overhead a little bit ago. That doesn't happen every day.

More Horse pictures from today!

Great pics, chica. They're just so cool to watch in action. :-D

On the ShootMoot front, I've stumbled into some "financial difficulties" and may not make it this year. I've not given up hope, but prayers would be much obliged to see if I can make it.

I meant to buy my plane tix last week, but I'm glad now that I didn't or I'd be in even ~worse~ shape!

Hey there, Mr. Ramius!

Watching American Idol and sort-of following along on the AI thread.

Hey... making something of an early evening of it tonight. I'm just dog tired. Need to get more sleep, and this seems like as good a time for it as any. :-)

All that office frap-moving. I can relate.

I had to move the contents of my entire cube to our "new" department on the other side of the building.

After running 14 payrolls, of course. *wink*

It drains ya to go through all that stuff and dump, shred, file, etc until it's finally back in some semblance of logical order again.

But I did get my junk drawer cleaned out. *grin*
