The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We're home! What an adventure!

We took the bus all the way up to the airport where I will eventually pick up my rental car. The bus driver was very nice and even offered to wait if I wanted to get off the bus and buy some $1.00/dozen donuts that were on sale! LOL I declined...the neighborhood was rough.

He told me the best route to take to get to the area where Steve works.

Was that the first time your boys have ridden a bus? I think I was almost in middle school before I rode a bus for the first time. I was think I was riding across town to my Granny's house, I don't even remember. I went to Catholic School, so we didn't have school buses.

Steve took them once before...when Joshua was little. Matthew remembered it, but Joshua didn't. It was fun, the bus driver was nice and seemed to enjoy talking to me! Offering to let us get out and get those donuts was a kind gesture.

If you don't count charter bus trips, the first time I'd ever riden a bus was after I moved out here. But I'd been on lots of subways which are a similar idea, I guess.

I love subways...I guess because they are so novel to me...

*shudder*

I don't like being underground!

I'm at the hotel...and there were three unsecured wireless networks around, which I assume means I kin use 'em...though THIS hotel didn't advertise anything. Hm.

In any case, I'm on for now. The flight went OK, though it was pretty long, considering it didn't seem like we had all that far to come. Dad and I went to the grocery and got a bunch of lunch stuff (cheese and bread and such). Tonight we're going over to Ben's fiancee's house for dinner - they're going to come get us.

Oh, good, you didn't miss your flight. I was a little worried about that.

Bet you're glad to see all the siblings!

Kitties haven't figured out that you've abandoned them yet.

I'm really hoping Tam doesn't act up. I realized after I left that I'd barely talked to you about them!

If he acts up I'll stick him in the closet ;-)

They're cats, and not mine, so it's not much more involved than "make sure they have food and water, and try not to step on them". You're the one who has to do all that silly petting and playing fetch and stuff.

So...there used to be a chart about who all was coming, are they camping or crashing in the house or going to a motel (boo!), what kind of thunderstix etc.

Is that still around and updated?

Also, there was something to be said about who brings what supplies...groceries and drinks mostly. Am I requested anything? I've already proven I can get Vernors :)

HI there!

Sorry it's so dreary here weather-wise!

What would you like for a schedule tomorrow? You can go anywhere you'd like, within a range that would allow me to pick ecurbh up from work at 4:30!

I have the chart... and yes, I'll update it in the next few days. Thanks for reminding me!

Honey, in photoshop, I accidently closed the tool window that was in the upper right had corner... the one that showed the view window and let you zoom in and out.

I can't figure out how to get it back.

You can open it back up under the 'Window' menu. I think it's called 'Navigator' or 'Explorer' or something like that.
