The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ended up hiking at Devil's Backbone - just outside of Loveland. REALLY cool rock formations. Couldn't get too close, though, because apparently it's nesting season for the ravens that live in the rocks. We saw some of them from a distance, though. That was fun!

And for lunch we went to a great little place in Loveland. I'll hafta take you there one of those days. I had a gyro pizza (sounds weird, but it was excellent!), and Margaret had a turkey sandwich on sourdough - and they bake the bread there. Good crusty stuff.

Almost makes me think I should try for a job in Loveland...

Devil's Backbone killed the thread.

A joke from my mom...

"Dear Lord," the pastor began, with arms extended and a rapturous look on his upturned face, "without you we are but dust..."

He would have continued, but at that moment one very obedient little girl (who was listening carefully for a change!) leaned over to her mother and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mommy, WHAT is butt dust?"

Church was pretty much over at that point...

How far away is it? Think about the drive in the winter, as well as now when it's nice.

G'd'afternoon ebryone...this evening will be part two of the effort to put this monstrous minitower on a wireless-g network.

Have to wait for the cousin/roommate to get back since he knows the codes 'n' all...the software is in, the antenna reaches, but I need the codes. Right now I'm still hard-wired.

This morning, at work, I was getting something down off a high shelf and felt a twinge in my back. At my age, twinges are accepted and nearly expected parts of life, and usually go away soon. This one's hanging in there. Pray as you are led, thanks.

Evenin' all... [sigh]

OK... I'm tired. Actually started moving into my new office today. I knew I had a lot of frap... but damn... filled a big blue garbage can so far, and I'm still diggin' out.

Enjoy the move, hope it's to a better place...

...not that Better Place, mind...not yet...

The wireless network works, and the back aches. To the great flat paradise I go for the next several hours.

Yah... it's a better place. It's a corner (woohoo!) but even better yet its off in a ~distant~ and very quiet part of the building. :-)

Yah... Its a corner... two walls werth'a winders. But its not like there's only four corners in our building. They have this wierd jaggy-shape thing going on that means that there's actually eight corner offices on each floor.

It's small though. There's bigger corner offices in our suite, with room for a second table and such. Mine's not like that. Just my desk and room for a couple of visitor chairs, a bookcase and a file cabinet.

It's all I need... just my desk, and my laptop, and... and this thermos... and this paddle game... and... and this chair... .

My folks house sold. They're moving beginning of June. Just got an email from my little brother.

Is that good news or bad news? To where are they moving? Not Fort Collins, I hope.

It's not that far...less than ten, in any case. Less of a drive than I was doing back home, at least part of my time there. Still would be scary in the winter, I suppose...but doable.

Mostly I was being facetious, though. That place had really good food!

The receptionist, of course, looked at me like I wuz nuts [as always].
