Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

No, he loves those too...but this one is brand new. We ordered it before it even was released. It's called "Star Wars Revenge of the Sith" by Matthew Stover based on the story and screenplay by George Lucas.

I only watched part of the silliness. Went to the Depot to get mulch. Spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon out in the glorious sunshine. I'm so addicted to 'dirt' and sunshine!
As silly as the royal family is they are 1) entertaining and 2) a defining cultural focus. And as such they're not all bad. America would benefit from a better defining cultural focus than the Hollywood crowd.

I'd enjoy being on an Art ping list, Sam. I like that thread about St. Peter's Basilica.

That's the one I have. Ordered a bunch of 'em for the cannon cockers of 3/8 FA in'89 or so, and kept one. NSN 7340-00-098-4327.You were actually able to order stuff via NSN? I've got the NSNs for the three Camillus sheath knives, and the NCOs I've given those numbers to all say they're impossible to get.

I wanted to be able to see who was calling before I opened the phone, because once it's opened, it's answered.Well...my phone doesn't have the external caller ID, but there's a setting that means it doesn't answer until you press a button. The guy at the phone place set it that way for me.
Considering the next phone up was something like sixty dollars, I decided I could live with having to open it, though the caller ID on the outside was kinda neat.

Nah, it was just sleeping.
We drove the really-scenic route to Denver, all through the mountains. Then grabbed Popeyes and came home. Tonight we're supposed to be getting 3 to 5 inches of snow, with an additional 7 or so tomorrow, loverly.

So here are the photographic proof of today's adventures:

Margaret and Rosie

Me
We hiked a little way up a trail near the road at one point. The views were great, and you could look straight down onto the road.

We been out on our own adventure this afternoon... went out to do the next phase of shopping for a horse trailer. Decided on one like the pic below, and got a solid price quote. Next step, we have to get the truck situation settled, then we can actually finish the purchase.

You'll have to get a BIG old truck to haul that thing!

It's a 2-horse model, but if we removed the center divider, it could fit 3... providing we have enough truck to pull it. ;~D

We're vey fortunate in that we don't have to haul leaves or branches anywhere. We've got woods in back of us (with a highway just beyond). We're praying that family never chooses to sell. So we usually push the leaves back there. But there's so dang many of 'em.
Got most of 'em up. Got the front yard mowed.

We're going to be doing very little in the way of lawn care this year. All our efforts are going to be on the addition and the landscaping necessary for that. We're going to create a driveway from the asphalt driveway to go along the side of the house and curve it around at the back of the yard so that it will meet one angle of the new basement. We're going to use some mesh that you can put down on a base of crushed stone, then fill with soil so that grass grows up through it, and you can mow right over it, but it can also be driven on!
To accomplish this, we have to build a retaining wall, level out one area of the yard, then build it up in some other places, which will held in place by the retaining wall. It will be a HUGH job.
