The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I've been to the Tattered Cover before - it was nice!

I plan to just rent gear through school until I know which mountain activities I like ;-) You're welcome to visit us any time, but be warned, the couch is not that comfortable.

She noticed that the world leaders were sitting in alphabetic order, according to the French language. Is that because French is the diplomatic language?

It always has been, so I'm assuming that it still is.

Um, not that many woods in Fort Collins. Camping does sound fun, though! I hope to go several times this summer.

Almost everyone I know locally, family and friends, uses Verizon. So, most of my calls are free!

The the Papal Gentlemen (pallbearers) picked up the coffin to take it into the Basilica.

That's the part I saw. It was very moving.

And those who don't understand the Sign of the Peace are just idjits.

(or heathen)

(or both)

So why don't you call me more often?

Or liberals - wait, that would be covered by "heathen idjits", I guess.

I'm just sayin'...

Since I didn't want to be here at the beginning of the week, I'm even less inclined to want to stay around now...

Mountain Moot? That'd be cool...

Denver is a city I really know almost nothing about. Rather sad, but I'd love to explore! Unless the weather magically clears up, of course.

Went to the mall and (had some gooood coffee and) checked some more stuff on phones. I think I'm pretty much sold on Verizon, though it's a little pricier than some. Lots more coverage than most, especially if we're gonna be out hiking much. I know you hike to get away from it all, but I'd feel better knowing I COULD contact help if something went wrong. Also I think my brother has Verizon, so I could bug him for free. ;-)

I do need to find out how they define evening hours, though. That could be a catch. Doesn't do me much good to have unlimited evenings if evenings start at nine local - eleven at home. Still have weekends, of course.

We're going out again for a bit, but should be back waiting when you get home, Jen!

It's that 976 number, ain't it? ;-)

Well it's just a smidgen under 1000sqft with a full basement. It has 3 bedrooms, two with hard wood floors and one with some carpet I might want to swap. It was made in '54 so it is a lot newer than some I have been looking at. It has a nice big eat-in kitchen. Even though I rarely cook anymore I like a big kitchen. It has a very finish-able basement which already has a very nice bathroom in it. The upstairs on has a tub with no shower but the basement one is nice enough to use all the time for showering. The carpet in the living room could stand replacement but that is not too big a think. It has a 1.5 car garage that I can make into a nice shop since my boat (as you now have seen) does not need a garage. So it just meets all my requirements. It has thing that COULD be done to it to make it better but is not a major fixerupper. That is the best of both worlds since I am pretty handy and pretty lazy ;P The location is nice and closer to work that I am now by a small amount. Too bad I don't work at the other main Rockwell building since it is only a block or two from that (I could walk to work if I was over there).

Go to packing.org and we what the CO requirements are. Nothing makes hiking safe like a good friend, a cellphone, and a .45

Heh... friend and cell phone, certainly. At this point I have a feeling I'd be more of a danger to myself than evildoers with a gun. I try to hike in fairly public places...
