New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
We're all gonna die! We're all gonna die!
I like a big finish.
How does this relate to our conversation yesterday?
I figger quick and painless. But flashy.
Oh, post-apocalypse survival has always been my favorite sort of SF. Volcanos don't do it, though, they're too sudden. You need warning to prepare.
I can dig that. ;~D
Did you check out the Google maps? I can see my house! And my old pear tree that died is still documented...

You mean like in the Shannara books? ;-)
Darn! I left the front porch light on...
Thans for that... I was gonna check it out. It doesn't seem to be as high-res for our area as for your area. I've seen better detail from our assessor's office.
I type in my address, and it doesn't mark my address, but yet DOES mark the location of hotels in the area, that's annoying.
I put in an intersection...not too close by, then drug over to it...you can move it by clicking and dragging it.
You can see my house, my driveway, my shop, my fenced in back yard...the whole thing!
I'm gonna see if I can get it via print screen...
Um, no, more literary than that. "Earth Abides", f'r instance.
That's cool! I wonder how old the sat maps are. They give out just before they get to my apartment... and then I looked up my hometown and some of the newer construction, like in the last year, isn't there. But majorly cool!
I did it and it just came up with a map showing the streets, not the houses. Did I NOT do something I was supposed to do?
Look at the top of the page - is there a "satellite" link?
Oh...I'm gonna get flamed...wanna watch?

Well, we'll let ya know. Considering we're still on a two hour earlier clock (make that three, considering the daylight savings thing), we're likely not to be party animals for a few days...
Just had our first excursion to the mall, to retrieve Van-sama and do some exploring. Decent little place. I alllmost went into the eyeglass place to see if the guy from Vermont was working, but didn't. Did I tell you that story? I went to get clip-on sunglasses for the trip, and the man who has fitted my glasses for as long as I've had 'em said his son works for a glasses place here, and gave me the name. Hadn't realized it was so close, though!
We're taking a break to have water and check on the kitties, and then we may check out B&N and look into picking up a wireless card for the 'puter.
The guy backtracked on the money issue. A married man living in SF should never use lack of funds that keep his wife from staying home. Other reasons, ok...but not lack of funds.
