Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Tax return done... yay... shudder...
To: HairOfTheDog
I think God lead him to you. I know I say stuff like that all the time...I still believe it, I don't care what anybody says. Like when God didn't let me find that income tax info and I didn't get out to get my taxes done and then it started snowing.
God meant for Homer to find you. So there.

Well, I hope God doesn't intend for him to have a lot of these ear infections! ;~D

Beer is smelly. And I've never been around anyone who drinks beer socially, just student-types who drink beer to get drunk. And I don't know anything about it. Wine is much nicer.
I like a couple of mixed drinks too but they're harder to just have with a meal. And I don't go to bars... except now that Rosie will be going to the pub now and then I'll tag along.

Maybe the ear infections are God's way of letting you demonstrate the gift of compassion He's given you for His creatures? So when you care for His creatures, you're doing the job He gave you!

Kindof a raw deal for Homer, then.
To: HairOfTheDog
Woulda been worse if he'd stayed where he was before he came to you!

Holey moley... interesting topics y'all have had today.
I dunno how I'm gonna go, but I just pray that it leaves me with some shred of dignity. Please Lord, not while I'm on the toilet. Let me get my pants on first, then I'm all yours. :-)

Rosie update... they're stopping for the night somewhere in Nebraska. Pressing onward tomorrow and hopefully will be here somewhat early. I don't have a morning class tomorrow so no problem unless they don't show up until after 1...

Actually one of his fishing buddies found him. He was down at our Fishing Camp, where he'd spent a lot of time after his early retirement from Hercules. His friend noticed the lights on and knocked on the front door and called to him. When Daddy didn't answer, he went looking for him in the cabin.
I'm thankful that none of us had to do that. My sister was living with him at the time, waiting for her husband to return to the coast from working in Jackson, but she wasn't there that particular week because she was at a conference. She felt bad because she thought that she might have been able to do something for him, but we told her that she would have felt worse getting up the next morning and finding him, because she would have been asleep and not heard him fall, so she wouldn't have gotten to him in time anyway.

As the old saying goes... I want to die peacefully in my sleep like grandad did, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.
