The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Seems like she'd be okay as long as she stayed in the right lane.

(and you stole muh precious...)

'Twas an honest precious. I was sure someone else had scooped it up before I got back to the thread.

What about building a house for me, in ten years when I have a job and stuff?

That bug is starting to look less like an old car in a pasture, and more like a cheerful project with potential all the time!

I've been busy - I am really behind on work after my trip. The week prior I got little done, and the week after I recovered... so just now getting caught up. ;~D

I made an appt for Homer to see a vet on Wed. He's never been in to get shots since we've had him anyhow, and he's flopping his head like he's got the labrador ear-fungus thing comin' on. Bad part is he is IMPOSSIBLE to hold down so we can give a good look inside. This is not his first ear infection I suspect, and he didn't like his last experience(s) with it.

They're gonna have to sedate him to really clean them out, I can tell that already. I just hope he's not a dog that has these issues really frequently in the future.

Heh, too late for that... he'd been 'tutored' already when we got him.

No hail here (yet), but we got some pretty good wind for a minute. Made the horses run. :~\

Now that was a really nice thing for you to say! Thank you, Hair!

I get a kick on how the neighborhood has responded to it! People actually stop their cars in the road to talk to us! People I don't even know! EVERYONE waves at us!

That said, it is looking better and I now lock up the shop securely each night....

Thank you! We're really having a good time. I even let Joshua sit in it briefly yesterday...on the chassis bar that goes up the center...it's very stable. I had to put him in, though...I was afraid he'd fall through the floor and I'm not even exagerating.

I don't know why I didn't get a picture of that!

I think it's cool what you're doing. Heck, if you like it well enough you could refurbish them and sell them to lazy people who won't do the work on their own ;-)

~sigh~

Wife just called. Nana was ~supposed~ to be moved tomorrow to the skilled care facility. They moved her today. So, wife is there, Luke is at the sister's and I'm on my way to get Jr. to haul over Nana's TV and other assorted frap.

Of course it's the first full evening of daylight savings time and the first day it's been dry enough to work in the yard in 47 years...but no...I gotta go do this. It's one thing that I have to take up all the slack 'cause this consumes all of the wife's time, but it's quite another when it consumes ~mine~.

Not to mention that the only way anyone will get dinner tonite is if we eat out...again...

And yes, that IS very selfish of me. But that's just who I am.

Expect me when I regain control of my time...I'll make sure I'm done whining by then...
