The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Morning... kind of cloudy here, like it's gonna rain. Be careful, you snowy people.

Last midterm today! I had a nightmare that a class I've done the midterm for had a surprise "bonus" midterm. Ugh. Pray for me!

Good morning!

Well, my computer is still dead. The old power supply had something loose rattling in it, so my sister replaced it last night to see if that was the problem.

Unfortunately, we have narrowed it down to either the CPU or the (~gasp!~) motherboard. *sigh*

She took the box home with her and is constructing a frankenstein machine out of it and another machine she has at home, so I hope to be back online by the end of the week.

If not, I will have to wait until I can order a stripped-down Dell box and have my sister cannabalize my old machine to get all of the peripherals, memory, etc out of it to put in the new machine.

As always, things are never easy. ~shrugs~

As a kid, I wouldn't touch okra. As an adult, it's okay. I still don't like squash, but I ~will~ eat it so as not to be rude. Fresh spinach is good cooked or raw, but the canned stuff makes me gag. Cabbage is one of those things that has to be in disguise for me to eat, LOL. Love hominy. Hominy is almost as good as popcorn. I like carrots, just not cooked to smitherines.

PE loathes lima beans. I love em. He can have my peas, and I'll take his lima beans.

Oh, dear, no fun. Sorry it wasn't the easy choice. Hope she can figure out what's really wrong with it.

Almost ALL canned vegetables are gross. For people that grew up eating those...I guess I can see why they wouldn't like veggies!

I kinda like canned green beans, and corn is good that way...but almost nothing else!

Stuff like this is why I don't mind havin' a warranteed machine, even as a PC tech...

Hope it's solved quickly, Ruthy!

I know I should know this...but can you FReepmail or e-mail me the new apartment address one more time? Want to be able to give it to a few close friends.

I'm not going to get hysterical over it. It isn't going to change anything anyway. ~sigh~

As long as I can get some kind of machine put together, I'm still better off than having to buy a brand-new loaded machine. I know that I just can't afford it.

Worse comes to worse, I'll have to scrimp and save to get a Dell. I won't buy e-machines again. Apparently, they are notorious for having their motherboards go bad after 2 years.

If all you need is one new part, I reccommend newegg.com. They have a lot of good deals and I've never been burnt, buying from them.

Speaking of which...I need to get a wireless card as soon as I close on the house!

I'm also thinking of getting myself ONE gift: a new fountain pen. We'll see. I should know exactly how much extra cash I'll have in a few days here!

I'm also thinking I may or may NOT have to buy a rooftop carrier. It's looking like it'd be cheaper to just mail all the clothes I'm not actually using right off than it would be to buy a carrier. Plus it'd save some hassle...except for taking the boxes to the post office and your havin' to deal with 'em on the other end. At least now you can just stack stuff in my bedroom!

My mom had to mow her's over the weekend.

*whines* SHUT UUUPPP! I haven't seen bare ground in weeks, except right on the edge of the hole in our backyard, also known as the new basement.

I also LOVE okra...which makes me part of a small but privileged portion of the population, I guess. ;-)

The SMART portion, too! ;o)

;-)

Yay! They're closing the college as of 1:30. Right after lunch. Not THAT much of a snow day, but I'll take what I can get!

I have LOTS to do at the house, so this is a blessing! I still need to take a day or two off when the weather ISN'T bad so I can do the dump and Salvation Army runs, but at least I can do laundry, sort clothes, and box things.
