Just said to an officmate (re the news) that this has been a heck of a week. He said, "what do you mean?" - failing to see the how the loss of either "means" much. We live in a very dark world.

John Paul II has been Pope for so long, that there are LOTS of people who either have never seen this, or were too young when he was made Pope to remember it. It is a very profound event.
It is also somewhat cathartic, after the last two weeks of anguish with Terri Schiavo, that the Pope is approaching death with such peace and tranquility, and in our sadness we can be happy for him, as well.
It'll all be better when Hillary is President. She'll protect us from hurricanes.

It's such a gorgeous day outside... and I'm stuck here til five... then with the bus ride, won't be home until almost 6. Oh well. I really wanted to hike tomorrow but my blisters hurt too much. I'd go for a drive but gas prices are high. We'll see.
