The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

'Zactly.

No airplane was ever hijacked because there were too many weapons aboard. They're only hijacked when there aren't enough weapons aboard.

My plan has yet to be adopted: bats. Everybody on the plane gets a bat. There would be little bat-racks in the jetway. Pick up a bat on the way into the plane, and put it into the rack on your way off the plane.

I don't care if four or five guys have AK-47's... they're not going to be able to overcome 200 people with bats. They'll be beaten to a senseless mass of sack-flesh.

Sure, its crazy, but it would work... :-)

I don't do solos because nobody writes solos for altos :-( Also because I don't get asked. And because I don't have the "grimacing in pain whilst singing" look that is required of all female worship soloists.

Oy...'zackly when did "worship" get redefined as "music"...and further redefined as "not very good music"?

My plan is simpler than that, requiring absolutely no hardware.

While taxiing, along with the usual safety spiel, show a quick video of how to turn the objects TSA let you keep into weapons. Car keys on a ring make for a good flail, especially when aimed at the eyes. Inform the passengers that when a bad guy goes down, you keep him down with two rounds to the head from his own weapon.

Finally, explain the by boarding the aircraft, they have volunteered to become soldiers, and it is their duty to die trying to defend the aircraft, and people on the ground.

Actually, that's all true today, but nobody has the nerve to say so. It's the passengers' responsibility to kill the hijackers before the bad guys get to the cockpit.

I was using "female worship soloists" as a deragatory remark. I prefer hymns to praise bands, honestly, and dislike the appelation "worship team".

In this case I am in the choir, not the worship team. We sing hymns. In four-part harmony. The worship team does hymns too, but they rewrite the tunes and only let us peons in the pews have the melody line.

We got her to drink a glass (okay a few sips) of red wine.

She's waited 75 years and you give her Merlot? Gak!

I'm sometimes in a 'small group' of two or three altos and sopranos and a couple of tenors and basses that Rick puts together for a verse or two in a hymn. Clare is another alto this time! We're doing a verse in the Gloria for Easter.
