Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Are they giving that poor woman grief? I'm glad I didn't wander onto that thread. I mighta said somethin that wouldn't be very ladylike, but then, I'm a GRITS, and the folks who are bitching about Mrs. Smith are likely NOT. ;o)
What is it with folks that they can't take a few flaws in folks who have done something that was good? Their heroes have to clean and pure as the wind driven snow? They need to get a BDG (Big Damn Grip)! I noticed on one thread that folks completely misconstrued her words, taking them to mean that they think she said he shouldn't be punished. That's not at all what she said. She was telling him that he made wrong choices and that he needs to face the consequences. I think they had enormous courage to say that to this man!
Some folks is just STOOPID!

Hi!
Just got back from my mom's. She lives an hour away. I had to give her a ride in the new car :-) (especially since she provided half the downpayment).
I also thought the Coastal Grey looked a bit blue. To me it looks like a storm cloud.

Never seen it, wouldn't mind if there's someone to see it with sometime but my galpals tend to like comedies.

[sigh] Yes, I know... There's a lot of hindsightin' and Tavern Heroes on those threads.
I hope that if someday I'm ever in a situation like she was that I could hold it together half as well. I don't know if I would or not. There are countless moments strung together over many hours where just the one right thing has to be said or done, else a bullet ends the day.
She learned hostage negotiation on the job, and appears to have been a quick learner. No way that's anything but astounding, and no way it did anything other than save lives.

It's a good movie, I think. But it's one of those that either it gets you or it doesn't.

I loved the highlander films. I am not sure what happened to the TV series, but that was also good. Sort of a cult classic.

Cool. Shall get it, sometime.
Just because I'm a girl, I shouldn't have to watch chick flicks and not action movies. Explosions, bloody death, and last charges are much better than yet another movie about all men are scum except the one the heroine falls for.

Well, hey... it's even got Sean Connery in it, in a bit part. I have to even admit that I like the soundtrack. "Who wants to live forever" is some classic Queen, if there is such a thing.

Sean Connery's pretty cool for being an old guy. Neat accent.
I am not sure I would recognize Queen songs if I heard them. Maybe I would.

Since mine are out back, I'm not as worried about looks as I am function. I've been thinking I'd build the wooden box.
'Course he sells 'em on his website for $24.95 and considering time and effort, that's mighty tempting.
