The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, it at least needs to have grass... fancy landscaping, it isn't, but I love to sit out on the grass in summer.

That spot just takes too much of a beating all winter.

We're going to watch some more of "24". We've just finished Season 1, Disk 1, which is the first 4 episodes. Fixing to start Disk 2!

"Vector" is an older model I quite liked...except that the barrel had a tendency to split if you overtightened it.

"Reflex" is the newer one...only place I've seen them lately is Staples.

We'll also be making Vernors pitstops!

If you have room in Van-Sama, I could bring a case or five to Eatmoot.

Evening Hair-something about dogs and other critters and nice lawn seem incompatible somehow... Gypsygirl has done a number on the back yard this winter, but ya know, we don't much care. Guess well plant some more flowers and throw seed on the rest.

I don't remember it being all that bare last summer. Must grow fast!

Isn't it a bit early to seed though? Aren't you still expecting some freeze at all?

You've probably explained this before...but how exactly does the engraving work, anyway? Do they scan an image in?

It can be done that way, but in this case, the logo is just a text file, and everything is done with True Type fonts.

Evening WM - that is a very well done. Ya know, the other side of the freeper-proto I have is presently blank.. Ya think they would do the other side with the new logo-full size?

If you send it, they'll engrave it. You could mail me all your kitchen silverware and they'd engrave it with whatever you want. Cost is $6, plus postage. Freepmail me if you're really interested.

Normally it'd be too early, it's been so warm I'm hoping it'll stay that way.

It had grass last summer!

~snif~

That was such a good time.

And there was plenty of grass. Good soft grass, not the crunchy feeling St Augustine we got here.

~grinning at you~

Anyway, do you mean on the road as in driving or as in traveling for work?

And does this mean that we will be without your honored presence while you're away? *wink*

You'll have to leave some space in the van to pick up a few cases, unless Jen has found it in CO!

We should! I'm still not sure exactly how packed in we'll be...but for that, we could deal with a bit of discomfort. ;-)

Ah, yes - Reflex it is! I've seen 'em at Staples for maybe seven or eight dollars, I think. Rubber grip, somewhat thin barrel?

I never tried out a Vector, though I remember seeing them. My cheap fountain pens are furrin...one's a no name jobbie I got for what would have been about four or five dollars at a Woolworth's in Germany - it takes standard "international" cartridges. The other's a Waterman with a steel nib that cost me about seven dollars. Can't get those low-end models here. It's about my favorite pen, too...vey forgiving.

I guess I should be ashamed of bein' such a pen geek...

So it's almost like printing, except it engraves?

Kewl...
