Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well...I have the few days leading up to the break. I'll be there for those. They aren't razzing me about it.

His teacher was very pleased when she told me. Did I miss something? I thought this was a video class.
Do you actually have interaction with the teacher in some format?
BTW, tell Matthew the good lookin' dwarf says "atta boy!"

Let me see if I paid proper attention in class...;-)
The spelling class is the video class - THAT teacher made mention of the roots of a word that came from Latin.
The Latin class is at a what-do-you-call-'em...co-op? THAT one has a live teacher.

That's right! Matthew goes to a class taught by another homeschooling mom every Thursday. Costs $15 a month.
I really like it because it gets to let me see how he performs under the instruction of someone else. Is he up to the task? Am I doing a good enough job of making sure he's learning? These are questions I ask myself every single day.
So when I get reports like this back, where he's done so well, it really is a relief.

Granted, I did NOT teach him any Latin...but I did teach him the reading and study skills he uses to learn it!
Just about the only Latin I know is E pluribus Unum. Or whatever

Here's another Joshuaism for you for when you get back.
Celeste and I were at the park waiting for our boys to get out of Latin. Joshua was standing there and I said "Hey, Joshua...spell something for Mrs. P." (Joshua loves to spell out words then use them in a sentence!) Ok, so Joshua starts spelling "F-L-A-K-E...That woman is a flake!"
ROFLOL!! He wasn't referring to Celeste or anybody we know...just using the word in a sentence the way he thought it ought to be used! I nearly died! He went off to play and as he left Celeste said "I wonder where he got THAT?"

Evening WM - that is a very well done. Ya know, the other side of the freeper-proto I have is presently blank.. Ya think they would do the other side with the new logo-full size?

Whew... I was out workin' in the yard all day, got the worn bare spot in the yard right in front of the porch softened up, got seed down and watered, and got a temporary fence up so the dogs can't get in it. There's more area to do, but at least part of it has been started. Softening it up when it's so compacted is hard work by hand. I wished I had a tiller! I tossed a little hay on top to hold moisture in.
Come on now.... GROW!
This is the temp fence I put around the whole front yard, you can see it barely in the pic above. I re-used an old roll of field fence ... Now the dogs HAVE to use the doggie door in the back, they can't get to the front door. I like those little step in posts, we bought them at the feed store sale a month ago.

Evening, 'art class' well, did you have them make ashtrays or whistle lanyards?
Never took art in HS, took mechanical drawing instead, actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Certainly came in handy in cartography and surveying later on.
To: 2Jedismom
I'm pleased he's doing so well in Latin.
