Note: in order to speak frankly about the issues raised in the film, this article reveals major plot points.
As my wife and I waited in the lobby of the theater to go in and see Million Dollar Baby, she said that she hoped there was at least one puppy in the movie. I responded that I did not think there were any puppies in it at all. Neither of us really had any idea whether there were any puppies in the film, it was simply the casual banter of a married couple. Sure enough, when Maggie, sitting in the car at the gas station, looks over and sees a little girl holding a puppy, my wife nudged me.
That shot, of course, creates an opportunity for Maggie to tell a story about her father euthanizing a crippled dog named Axle. This reflection in turn foreshadows the films great twistin the title match, Maggies neck is broken, leaving her a ventilator dependent quadriplegic. We watch as Maggie and Frankie struggle to deal with her condition, and ultimately hear Maggie ask Frankie to do for her that which her father did for Axle.

A review usually doesnt SPOIL the damn ending...
Well, if you read past the first sentence, that's your damn problem.
How could you possibly NOT know the ending???? It's only been talked about since the movie came out.
Since some of us maybe care less about an eastwood movie than we do about a moore movie - it's easy to ignore it.
Your not making sense. You don't care about a Clint Eastwood film yet your on a review thread about an Eastwood movie and mad that you now know the plot of a movie you couldn't care less about.
I saw the title of the thread and decided to check it out. I don't know anything about the movie other than it's an eastwood movie and, so, by definition 'bad' (a long track record). I'm not mad about knowing the plot - again, by definition: bad.
My grammar skills may not be as good as yours (big whoop) but my comprehension skills allowed me to understand the very first sentence of this thread unlike those of you griping about the plot spoiler

Well you posted a reply to MY post, naturally I assumed you were replying to what I said. My bad... /eyeroll

Excellent review so thanks for posting. I will pass it along as in fact.
I will see "...Baby" even though most of Eastwood's later work is overrated (actually most of it is)...including the flawed "Unforgiven"...where are you John Ford?
Was the plug pulled or not - I can't tell from the review.
When John Kerry is President, people like Maggie Fitzgerald will get up and walk!
Both suffer numerous insect bites and are awarded Purple Hearts.
Eastwood has made some good movies and bad movies. One of the things I like about him is that he's not afraid to experiment. Of course, the danger of experimenting is that experiments don't always work.
