Prostitution: one adult pays another adult for sex- is illegal
Pornography: Where one adult pays two adults to have sex and brings a camera, This is legal.
Pornography has been around for over one hundred years, since the time of the camera,
but it has only been the last few decades where it became the money making industry that it is today. And today's pornography is much much worse.
This question came to me after reading this article
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1353029/posts
an excerpt "The Justice Department is appealing the dismissal of an obscenity case in Pittsburgh in which a federal judge said prosecutors went too far in trying to block the sale of pornographic movies over the Internet and through the mail. The case initially was prosecuted under Ashcroft""
Should pornography be illegal?
It's an opinion question, you answer, give your reasons. Is it free speech or not? Why. And where is the line drawn? Has pornography promoted homosexuality and unsafe sex? Or is it a privacy issue?
Should there be standards on pornography?
Concerned Women for America say No- what do you think?
How would you "bring back a more moral time" without legislation ?
But people like sex and porn. That is why they buy so much of it. How do you expect to get people to stop liking it with out the force of the government?
If porn is illegal what are guys supposed to think about when...you know. Aunt Jemima is no Jenna Jameson we can all agree on that.
Raising children right, use role models and heroes, educate them, encourage acts of good and shun what is evil.
Once upon a time, Americans actually watch what they do or say and try to be as polite, corteous, and moral as possible. If it weren't for the Communists, we would have remained this way.
If we get enough ppl to police and think for themselves, we can bring back our Republic.
Oh rear your own children the way you want them reared.
But don't tell adults how to behave.
No. Government cannot ban porn in of itself. It can only ban obscenity (as defined by the Supreme Court).
"Mainstream" porn is perfectly legal.
It's not impossible. Americans use to police themseleves and avoid such things. We have to gradually turn the American ppl against the idea. We attack the sexual devolution and pron and everthing will fall into place.
I think most FReepers would agree that the devolution brought nothing but harm and if America could have a doover, the devolution would have been quashed before it even began.
Historically, mankind has gone through cycles of libertinism and strict moralism, which have all been more or less self induced, though enforced by laws.
If it hadn't been for the wussie adults, who not only let the hippy credo thrive, but embraced quite a lot of it,then things would be different today. And yes, parts of it were not only funded by the KGB,but engendered by it.
Where did I say I want the government to force ppl into raising their kids a certain way?
All we can do is show them the door. whether they walk through it or not, their choice.
Who is We?
"If it hadn't been for the wussie adults, who not only let the hippy credo thrive, but embraced quite a lot of it,then things would be different today. And yes, parts of it were not only funded by the KGB,but engendered by it."
I couldn't agree anymore.
"You can't get every single parent to "raise their children right" (and who is to say what is "right",they'll tell you!),nor even everyone to become more moral."
True. Like I said; door, enter exit, I don't care. I did what I could.
Too many ppl today can't even see the door. The libtards are doing a great job of convincing ppl that this door doesn't even exist, that mindless sex, pron, andassorted perversions are the way to go.
Anyone interested in taking back American culture from the liberals.
I would posit that one of the problems in our society is that people have lost sight of the fact that not everything which is legal is right. Laws exist to protect people from being harmed by others, not to restrict people to only doing what is right.
If people can for fully regain sight of this, "legislating morality" won't be necessary. And if people completely lose sight of this, "legislating morality" won't help.
One can be conservative and still enjoy sex and porn.
I think it's funny as hell when Arnold groupies lecture about libertarian morality.
But what do you mean by "door, enter exit"?
Libertarian "lack" of morality and inclination to the darker sides of anarchy.
You need to get this stuff right if you want to object to it.
Have a nice night.
..."not everything which is legal is right."
The laws should represent that which is right. If they don't, then they are bad laws and should be changed.
It's a sad day when that "which is legal" is the wrong instead of the right. Talk about an upside down world......
Yes you can. I proudly say I am a puritan and I truly believe that pron and casual sex is a sin and I really want to restore true American culture. But I'm not going to begrudge anyone of their right to enjoy carnal things. 'Sides, I'd rather be on the side of a pron loving conservative than a liberal prude. :)
I'm not gonna make ppl do anything they don't want to. They like that stuff? Fine by me. It's one thing to urge ppl to abandon pron. It's quite another to go around confiscating it or preventing ppl from enjoying it.
That's what freedom and capitalism is about. Like I said. I don't care about laws. Wanna hold a referendum? More power to you! What I care about is culture. In the 50s there are stag reels, nudie mags, painting of naked girls, and the culture and ppl turned out ok. Now we have an excess of it, it has been mainstreamed, and more ppl are affected negatively by it.
I want to make this absolutely clear: anyone can go and enjoy naked girls and ppl having sex. Not my business. It's between them and God. What I want is for ppl to reject such things out of conscience, not because the Taliban is telling you to.
Obviously, things have yet to reach a "bad enough" place ( though where that place will be,I have NO idea, considering how far things have gone now,in the normalization of perversity/porn )where people will react in enough numbers,to swing the pendulum in the other way.
