OK girls and boys, please help me.
I have two 10 year old cats living with me. A friend with a problem is asking me to take his two cats (five year olds) to live with mine in our house.
I am begging you for any advice on this!
I have two floors in the house, but you all know cats, the smell will be there. They will know.
How is the best way to deal with this?
The cats are coming here in about 36 hours.
Please tell me what you may know on this matter!
I've has cats all my 58 years, but this is a first situation like this with me.
HELP!!!
Then you just have to slowly introduce them with you in the room a couple hours a day...it's going to take months so get used to the idea now. They are not kittens, they are older cats with territorial needs. IT's not going to be pretty for a long long time.
It literally took a year and a half before my two finally got along and would stay in the same room with eachother at the same time...IN the beginning, the one grabbed the other ones tail and literally tore the whole tail open and she had to have surgery.....now they get along well. The key ingredient....TERRITORY. ALL cats need their OWN space to call their own.
I'm thinking Kitty Litter here....and I only have one cat...yikes!
sw
We have 44 cats as of now. The number could change at any time, though, perish the thought! LOL!
Living in the boonies with a BIG barn on the farm, it's just too inviting for people who want to dump their unwanted pets here. I guess they think we need a mouser but.......WE HAVE NO MICE! Not for long, anyway. LOL!
We're suckers for stray cats and can't turn them away. They get their shots and get spayed/neutered, and spend the rest of their lives with us.
I try NOT to think kitty litter or cat food. I've never totalled up how much I spend on them each week. I'd probably have a stroke. :-)
