I must concur 1000% on Al Pacino, particularly as words cannot adequately express how much I detest that movie, "Scent of a Woman."
However, there is one person who deserves to be #1 and is on the list:
Julia Roberts
Without a doubt the most overrated actress in Hollywood. Her Oscar was a fraud. I think she elicits absolutely no emotion on the screen from the viewers and her characters are all unconvincing.
I had little respect for Johnny Depp until I saw Pirates of the Caribbean. He was great as Jack Sparrow.
I'm really surprised that Tom Hanks is not on the list. He should have been #1. (Although I did like him in "The Ladykillers" ...he is good when he is not trying to be a serious actor or trying to make you love him. His problem is that these occasions are EXTREMELY rare.)
Two movies I thought he was good in: The Witches of Eastwick" and "As Good As It Gets"
"5. Marlon Brando. His only good role was as Vito Corleone; everything else was self-absorbed, pretentious crap."
He was great in the Freshman!
"2. Jack Lemmon. Used to be first on my list. I am still agog when this guy is spoken of so highly. If you were watching a Jack Lemmon movie, you could be sure at least one character (his) would be supremely annoying and unfunny, especially in his incredibly depressing so-called "comedies". Just want to heave a brick through the screen anytime he's on it. EXCEPTION: His role as Jack Godell in China Syndrome was the best part of the movie."
He was awesome in Glengarry GlenRoss...
Amen on Johnny Depp, all he did the "Pirates of the Caribbean" was do a Keith Richards imitation.
If he'd ever seen "The Lady Eve" he wouldn't put Barbara Stanwyck on the list.
Barbra Streisand YES, Barbara Stanwyck NO.
A "Most Over-rated Actor" list sans George Clooney?? Someone needs to sit back down and do some re-compiling.
"Captain, it is I, Ensign Pulver, and I want you to know that I just threw your stinkin' palm tree overboard. Now what's all this crud about no movie tonight?" One of the greatest moments in movie history, just to see Cagney's reaction.
DeNiro kicked Pacino's but in "Heat", but he shows some really poor judgement in scripts. He seems to turn up in everyhting except for liveshots on the local news. That being said, they were both extraordinary in Godfather II.
Definitely got my vote.
Why does he even mention Ernest Borgnine? He is what he is, and you know what you are going to get with him. He never aspired to be a great actor, but he is a good character actor.
The rest YES...especially Julia Roberts.
Kevin Costner - Yuck he couldn't act himself out of a bag!
Give me time and I could probably list hundreds. Whoopie Goldberg comes to mind. Ben Affleck. Julia Roberts. So many looses, so little time.
Streep is my number one choice.
Not too keen on Brando or Stanwyck either.
Nicolas Cage and Kevin Costner missed the cut? This list stinks!
Schwimmer from "Friends"...should'a stayed in the fast food industry. He is a waste.
Johnny Depp doesn't deserve the No. 1 spot, especially since his roles in "Chocolat" and "Secret Window" are among the most forgettable of his recent career. Consider "Edward Scissorhands," "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," "Ed Wood," "Donnie Brasco," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and "Pirates of the Carribean" he definitely has range, unlike a lot of actors and actresses who play the same character in every film.
