Has anyone heard anything about musters being called for the Inactive Reserve?

My son, who finished his active duty in the Navy in 2001, just got notice for an Inactive Reserve Muster.
I don't remember musters of the Inactive Reserve, even during vietnam.

OOPS, just found this.

"All enlistments are for 8 years. Some are 4 active 4 irr, some 4 active reserve 4 irr, ect.. IRR musters are once a year, you come in, they update your info and generally let you know you can still be called up. Although I think they can be called once a year. They generally aren't done that often and many IRR folks have no idea it can happen, but it can. given the current political/military situation this shouldn't be a big suprise."

I think most of us thought it was 4 years active, 4 years inactive. I know they have been calling up specialists from IRR, but I had thought IRR were personel in the Active Reserve who were not assigned to a reserve unit for some reason, such as location.

Well, I've had an "interesting" day. We have gotten calls today from both the governor and Bill O'Reilly. My blue thingy buddie has gotten death threats and all the hub bub is over one of MY cases. Yikes! Probably nothing will come of it (I hope), but these are some p*ssed off people who are all fluffed up and ready for a fight. Imagine the quintessential southern backwater stereotype (think "Deliverance") auditioning for Jerry Springer.

Nully, about that vacation.....

Well, I do have to be very careful what I say right now, because if it ends up getting much press, I would be WAY too easy to identify. I mean, it is one thing to talk about situations and cases anonymously without doing anything to identify them or anything about my location. It could get touchy if there are names named and connections made. I guess I will have a better idea what is going to happen after tomorrow.....when they're served with the affadavit and court papers. They think they are PO'd now....

Does this mean we'll see you on an upcoming episode of O'Reilly?

Beg, borrow or steal a video camera, keep your still camera with you and take notes, this could make you rich with a book deal.

Am prepared to Fed-Ex Blue Thingies if necessary.

"Does this mean we'll see you on an upcoming episode of O'Reilly?"

Lord, I hope not! I like to keep a low profile! Like I said, I really don't expect anything to come from it, but they've made enough noise to get this much attention this fast, so who knows. And besides, I'm not the one who lit the fuse to this powder keg, although I am a party to it.

*Smoochies* Bless your heart, Swervie. I'm sure my friend/co-worker and I will go through a lot of blue thingies if this isn't resolved quickly. It is possible the judge will throw the whole thing out and the issue will be moot, but it isn't likely. I anticipate some criminal charges and a colorful and possibly explosive, episode in court next Monday.

If I was collecting material for a book mini-series (or several), I'd have more than I knew what to do with. We often talk about the stories we could write.

Something I need for y'all to do on the outside chance that this does become a story and I'm not around, make sure that any of these posts pertaining to it get pulled. I am being deliberately vague, but who knows who lurks here.

I'm not too worried about it at this point, although I am worried for my friend/co-worker, because of the kinds of threats that were made against her and the fact that they know where she lives.

"There are so many nut-jobs out there."

And the Ozarks has a "special" kind of nutjobs...and a lot of them are on my caseload! LOL! I have a hearing to go to in criminal court tomorrow on another case. I should probably just plan to work around the clock the next few days through Monday or Tuesday anyway.
