Is that what the Humane Society says, in your area, that the dog will be killed within a certain time?
I am not trying to argue, I AM trying to find out the connection, if any.
I didn't receive a pet for Christmas. I have one pet, that's all.
Well that would be EAST Vancouver. That's the commie area.
*scritching chin*
I always thought I was hideous.
*chuckle*
The first link does not work for me.
You really will set the covers on fire if you use a blow torch ROFLMBO!!!
Well, it is certainly an indicator of violent tendencies and seems almost universal in the history of serial killers. We have a 7 year old boy in foster care who did something awful to an animal. I'd rather not say what, because it is too upsetting, but it gives me grave concern about this child. I wish I knew more about the circumstances surrounding the event and if it was embellished. This child has also been scapegoated so sometimes it is hard to separate the truth from the revisions. Whatever the specifics though, this child has some serious problems.
Now extrapolate the pound to our fedgov, and you see the police state in which we all live.
Thank you for the wonderful allegory.
I hope that Mickey has a great go with you guys up there.
Nor am I being argumentative. I am trying to gain and give information. Yes, our Humane Society here will kill animals when their pens are filled to capacity.
In the last place I lived, I was told they only keep the animals for a week, and if they are picked up and found to be ill, they are destroyed and never given a chance for adoption. In Colorado, at least in the area where I lived, they kept them for 2 weeks, and it was a similar situation with sick animals. They were kept in a special holding area and unless they were claimed by someone who had lost them, who would then pay out the nose to reclaim them, they were rarely moved to the general population where they would be visible to the public looking for a pet.
In either case, it's frightening. Almost a loss of humanity.
On Animal Planet, I watched a segment where a HUGEly overweight woman had a dog chained in her kitchen. She'd walked over and past that animal, several times a day, feeding herself. She was allowing that poor dog to starve. THOSE are the things I want to stop. If I can't help that animal, I'd like to know people like her can never own another pet. If that makes me a Nazi, well, there you go.
I know nothing about her children, if any. Seems to me they would have received the same treatment.
Yes, I get the connection, Loddy.
I just had a phone call update on Mickey. He has been chased around by three loud kids. He is now snoozing with them all on the sofa. It is looking good. LOL
Some teens who are so lost have put animals in microwaves...
I can't get it out of my mind!
That ADD scam is unbelieveable.!!
I agree, Ringy. There are people who don't deserve the love of children OR animals, and mistreatment of either is just wrong.
.

ROFLOL. That is ALMOST what I saw, but worse. That poor doggie was skin and bones.
I just have to try and help. I simply must.
The only resource I have to give is money. I only have room in my life for one pet at a time. I simply can't manage more. Not with my lifestyle.
Maybe it just makes me feel better to THINK I am helping and actually I am not.
I would never, knowlingly, give one dime to PETA.
YIKES!
Ringy, I was talking about my suggestion that you ask Bess if she wanted a pet for Christmas. I take it that she said no. LOL
To my knowledge Bess has never owned a pet. I don't remember what her response was, exactly. :) I'd even forgotten you had suggested that. Forgive me. My memory isn't what it should be. It's improving, but not what it once was. :)
Bess tolerates and is kind to Molly. She has always been kind to my pets. She has survived 2, so far, and is working on the 3rd. Thankfully, my pets are long lived.
She cooks lamb and rice, daily, for this little Border Collie. It seems to agree with both. :)
