SURVIVOR: PALAU

premiering Thursday, February 17 at 8 pm ET/PT.

Greetings Survivor FReeks!

Its time once again for a new season of Survivor!

“Twenty Americans are stranded in Palau, the South Pacific paradise some call the 8th natural wonder of the world, where colorful wildlife, dense jungles and an underwater world beyond belief are haunted by the wreckage and remnants of World War II.
From the beginning, the game will be changed in a dramatic way: everything the Survivors have come to expect will be wiped out in the first 10 minutes.
Who will outwit, outplay, and outlast all others in Palau?”

According to the official website, there will only be one tribe (at least for starters) and three contestants will get the boot during the first show.

Should be interesting!

The tribe, if their ultimate goal is really to win this thing, would be wise to get rid of Tom at their very first opportunity. Problem is he is so good at the challenges he may never lose.

Unless of course it's a drinking challenge. He doesn't seem to be to good at that!!

Does Stephanie have a boyfriend?

What do you think? Touch her, and you answer to me.

At the reunion show for Survivor Vanuatu, Jeff said that if you're going to quit not to apply. That was about two weeks after this episode was taped. I would say it was obvious he was referring to Janu.

I have seen every season of Survivor and this is the worst display of Jeff Probst manipulating the game that I have ever seen. He did it at the water challenge, he knew he could get Janu to quit early. Then he got people to laugh at her.
The tribal council was a sham. Probst definitely caught wind of the fact that Steph was going and he wants to keep Steph in the game. She is a fierce competitor. And he hates people who don't care. But Janu did not come to tribal council with a mind to quit. Jeff played a head trip on her like I have never seen to get the outcome he wanted. Poor!!
The rest of the episode was fine. I knew right away Tom would win the immunity, being a fireman and more mature than everyone else he had the staying power. Next immunity challenge will probably be mental. I don't think Steph will talk the girls into going after the guys. Let's face it they provide all the food and the girls would not want to be stuck with Stephanie, she is too strong. See you all next week.

This Survivor Season has been the most depressing one ever. Watching Ulong lose every week was like watching someone shooting baby ducks in a barrel.

Stephanie has worked really hard in all the challenges, and is the best looking female so in terms of ratings, I could see wanting to keep her around over some of the other women. This is the first Survivor season in which I can remember some of the players gaining weight, instead of losing weight.

I liked Tom and Ian until I saw how quickly they folded to Gregg when he wanted to vote Stephanie off. I hope Stephanie pulls it off next week for the women to start getting rid of the men.

Plus, it will be interesting to see if Jeff inserts himself into things again, or if this was a one time save for Stephanie.

Are you crazy???? This has absolutely been very exciting and different! I tuned in just to try and interject some hope to that worthless Oolong tribe......and then to make sure that the most worthy (go stephanie!!!!) made it to the merge! lol and now I must strive with every ounce of my being to help her survive. lol. I have found this one very very entertaining...with twists and turns that have not happened before. And Yes, I've been addicted since the first one.! whew

I guess Survivor has now been around long enough for me to be nostalgic for the good old days with players like Ethan, and Crazy Tom, and some of the more colorful characters from past shows....
Or my all time favorite villain-Johnny "Grandma's dead" Fairplay.

Me too! I was a little disappointed in Tom and now he has an enemy in Stephenie and justifiably so. She would have been loyal had he stuck with the plan, Gregg is not the loyal type.

I disagree. I'm glad Jeff manipulated the outcome. Janu many not have gone into council ready to lay down her torch, but she was ready to leave. Considering that, and the fact that Stephanie wanted and deserved to stay, I'm glad he talked her into it. And it will make for a much better ending. This is the kind of thing that makes the show worth watching.

And let me be the first to say this: I think Tom was ready to give Steph the immunity necklace. She has the heart of a warrior and more game than any of the guys except for Tom. Tom could have given her the necklace knowing that, without time for the others to compare notes, they would have knocked off the obvious target, Janu. If it had been me I know I would have done it. To my way of thinking not only would it have been the right thing to do, it would have been the most memorable moment in Survivor history.

Stephanie rocks!

Why do people tryout for Survivor and then don't want to be there...Survivor has been on a number of years now, so there are no excuses what this show is about.

I read somewhere on another site that some of these survivors were "recruited" rather than being applicants. Dollars to doughnuts that Janu was one of them.

She was in the running, seriously, for Worst. Survivor. Ever.

Then she somehow transformed her complete apathy for the game into a noble gesture of self-sacrifice. There's such a fine line between clever and stupid.

Lee, I was thinking the same thing on Tom giving the necklace away to Stephanie. I really don't think the other tribe mates, on such short notice, would have the forethought to vote off any other but Janu. It would be very hard in that group setting, with no time, to gather a group consensus that was so far from what they were leaning towards.

He's younger than me. I thought he was definitely older than me. He looks older, but acts younger.

My husband and I thought that Jeff was great. He did manipulate the game, but that's part of it. You have to be strong mentally.

They are trying hard to make the weak ones go away this time, and I am quite happy about it!

I don't think Tom would have given her the immunity necklace under any circumstances. Tom knows that he is the strongest player in the game and thus is a primary target for getting voted off. He wouldn't risk being voted off just to let Stephenie stay. I would love to see a Tom vs. Stephenie final because they are both strong competitors. I also like Ian, but I fear that he's a little too nice to make it past the final four.

I liked Tom up until last night's episode. He caved in and was going to vote Stephanie out. He practically said so when Jeff asked him if Stephanie was the type he would want on his team as a co-worker. He said yes for work, but this is a game.... Steph owes him nothing now. Game on.

One more thing about Steph. Her living is made in the sales/marketing arena. She knows how to overcome "people" obstacles and she will play the game wisely. She is a fighter. Go Steph.
