The British have been watching Ron Moores reimagined Battlestar Galactica since October (and get its 12th installment Monday). But at least America's tardy SciFi Channel is good enough to kick off the shows first regular season Friday night with two new back-to-back hours. The reviews are pretty spectacular. (Even original Galactica actor Richard Hatch stopped badmouthing the new series after it cast him as a guest star!) The critics speak:

Doesn't it though? That was a fitting ending to a great season. I can't wait for next season. Still a lot of questions to be answered.

Enjoyed last night's episode.
The call that plays Starbuck is showing a lot of acting range. This series may be one of the better things on television in 2005.
Loved the cigarette smoking doctor!

The last two episodes have been much better than the first two, IMNSHO. I guess I'm a lot more interested in Apollo and Starbuck than that spineless scientist and his blonde robot. And the doctor was great. :-)

By definition, based on this post, you are on the internet. Get a News Reader. Check Alt.Binaries.multimedia.scifi. That's all well and good, but I can't make heads or tails of what comes back. Any pointers?

each forum will have a FAQ. There are also general FAQs on newsgroups and binaries.
try starting here: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/
If you are running Windows I'd suggest the free newsreader, XNEWS. You can download it from www.download.com. It organizes binary files for downloading. You'll need utilities (some free, some not) like QuickPAR and WINRAR to repair and or reassemble the files (they've been chunked up into smaller bits for uploading/downloading).

Another good show tonight.
Must say I'm as engaged with this version as I was with original.
Very clever writing echoes the themes and the basic characters . . . except poor Boomer and the very different -- but still creepy and internally conflicted -- Baltar)

It blows because of Friday night especially @10pm is generally not the best rating period (Especially among the 18-34 male group)Oh, I would think it's prime for the 18-34 male sci-fi fan group ;)

Yay!!
I never watched the original BSG, so this is all pretty new to me.
I was wondering why the Cylons would use a biological life form to fly their fighter ships--did they find it is more efficient than pure mechanization?
