After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
If anyone wants to talk to Steven in the next three days, he'll respond at NES-TOS.
Got a timeout, did he?
Is it snowing up there yet? We're expecting 4-8 inches starting late tonight through Saturday. Should be good bone-chilling weather for the AFC title game. The news media is warning people that when you drink, it lowers your body temperature.

Yep. I saw where it happened, and IMO it was completely unwarranted. Not that my opinion counts for anything.
Is it snowing up there yet?
It really hasn't stopped snowing since Tuesday. It is coming down very lightly right now, but we have a winter storm warning in effect from 6:00 p.m. tonight through 6:00 p.m. Saturday. Forecast is calling for 5 to 10 inches of snow, with winds of 15 to 30 mph causing significant blowing and drifting.
Yeah the picture. Never mind.
I concur. He was a bit brisk, but I didn't see anything worth zotting. But I don't know what he might have done or said to the moderator after being asked to cease and desist.

Frankly, all the more reason not to go there. It seems to be predominantly populated these days by trad-leaning Catholics and hardcore Calvinists. Neither group is particularly welcoming of those who disagree with them. IMO, let them have their threads, and the religion forum, to themselves. I'd rather hang out here with the happy heretics and have fun. :o)
I hope you aren't complaining, more is on the way. ;)
Same here except our starts at 9pm. tonight.
LOL
It isn't that I particularly want the snow, but I know we need it for the farmers.
I didn't bother shoveling the two inches we had yesterday, since I'm gonna be out shoveling this weekend anyway. :o)
Apparently, our winter storm watch got moved to 4AM tonight. Last night, they said midnight. I think we might be able to take Sarah out and try the sled for the first time Saturday. She likes to make snow angels, but we hadn't tried the sled yet.

The soon-to-be-ex-mrs.-malakhi retains custody of the old snowblower, I haven't "invested" in a new one yet. I'd like to get through this winter without spending the money on one. My present driveway isn't huge, so ordinarily shoveling it isn't bad. If we get 10 inches, that would be rather less fun. But 4-5 inches would be no problem.
I thought that might be the case. Just remember, it's usually easier to move 5 inches twice than it is to move 10 inches once.

Go borrow the thing, tell her you're gonna do the maintence on it to keep it running good for her.
BigMack
Ummm... never mind. ;o)
If we get that much, I might borrow it. Her new place is only six blocks away, and the snowblower is self-propelled. ;o)
I'm curious about your end times beliefs. As you understand it, Jesus comes back, and then what?
As far as I could see, for no real reason. I suspect there were a few "button pushers". What a bunch of sanctimonious jerks!
I'm thankful you're not a button pusher. I'd be in jail already.
I hate the combination of fluffy snow and wind. Our wind is still blowing 120-125 mph, well ... at least 20-25 mph. I tried the snowblower yesterday but it was too windy.
I'll worry about it later - much later.
