After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
Miracles happen:')
She could change her internet provider and come back, but her style would out her in a few posts.
I'm not saying her style is bad, but there are folks here that won't stop until she is banned again.

I want to wait and see what the Catholics have to say about this. I feel like I'm talking about someone that I didn't ping. I can't see the Catholics without the virgin Mary.
Please ignore my question re. the changing positions. I see you have already responded.
Yeah. She lurks and gets private mail here though so I went ahead and pinged her and then posted to her on TOS.
According to our family doctor, kids learn at different rates and they learn different things first. For instance some may learn to read first if this is a priority for them. Others may learn to walk first, or talk first.
My son would spell three letter words with magnetic letters before he could walk or talk. I got concerned about this series of events and that's when the doctor said they all learn differently depending on what is most important to them.
My son was always insterested in words. You couldn't go anywhere without him pointing to every sign he saw. *sigh*
We have a store locally, called The Teacher's Store. You can get learning supplies there. I used to go there a lot to ket things to keep him challenged. They would just look at me with wide eyes when I would tell them how old he was and what he could do and that I needed more to keep him challenged.
I would suggest that if you don't already have phonics tapes, get them. Schools today don't use phonics and early on they don't worry about spelling but encourage kids to spell by sound. :( I see this as encouraging bad spelling habits which can be hard to break later.
We also, never, ever, talked 'baby talk' to him.
He must be pretty old. Don't you remember when "Joshua fit the battle of Jerico".
I was kind of like that. I don't remember not reading. I knew he was doing math and could write his name in cursive and that he was learning his letters. It just pleasantly surprised me. We do a lot of stuff like me reading and puzzles and stuff. He can read to me now though. I just think it's so cute.
He threw a fit? I thought he "fought":')
Keep at it. You can't expect the schools to do it. Our elementary schools sucked and the middle schools?? I just don't know. Our schools are under achieving and have been for several years.
Maybe they arn't all the same but I wasn't impressed with the public schools my kids went to. It seemed like they came home loaded with home work and I had to "school" them This is a private Christian school. I really believe homeschool and private religious schools are better choices but they are expensive. I guess I'll just work right thru retirement:')
I think there are some good schools, BUT, they are only as good as their teachers, which is why our elementary schools stink. When my son was there each year he would get a brand new out of college teacher. I got concerned about this and asked one of the teachers that knew had several very young kids how he would feel if it were his child and the child was not getting any 'experienced' teacher's. He said it would bother him a great deal but that if I told anyone he said that he would deny it. :(
Fortunately my son likes school, likes reading, likes learning and catches on fast to things. But, I do feel sorry for the children that are not adept.
Sorry, didn't mean to ignore it. I totally missed it. Nice to see you here.
There is a thread going on about everything happening "birthing pains" I have a question about something Jael and I disagreed about on TOS. After the resurrection I believe there will be witnessing by the 144000 and the prophets and many will be saved before the mark. Jael countered that it will only be people that have never heard the gospel. What do yall see in scripture?
I don't think that there is anything that directly supports either position over the other.
I think that I saw this discussion and it seems to me that a case could be made for either position. But all of the arguments are inconclusive. I just don't think that God has given us enough information to totally figure it out. We'll have to be content to leave it in His hands.
One thing we can know for sure. All those who are open to the voice of God will hear His voice and be saved.Isaiah 11:10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
Interesting. If a man appears on the scene and manages to bring about world peace (and the Jews see him as the promised messiah) , will you see him as the second coming of Jesus...or will he be the antiChrist of the tribulation?
Guess it depends on how long the peace lasts.
No he fit! the battle. Why, even Elvis has an arrangement. Here ->Joshua fit the battle...
It is an interesting subject but we'll have to wait until the "expert" apologists arrive to tell you where you are mistaken.
Remember, "There is no Catholic teaching which is clear enough that it cannot be denied or modified as necessary".
I'll be darn:')
:')
